I'm thinking pp hasn't driven a new car lately. |
I was skeptical about these new features, but then I rented a car that had them and realized that they'd be great for a new driver. It's like having Mom in the passenger seat. "Watch out! Slow down!" Would probably drive my kid crazy, but that's his problem. I really didn't find it annoying, though, because the warning generally went off at the exact same time that I realized that I was closing in on another car too fast, there was someone in my blind spot, etc. So I don't think it would make a great safety difference for me, but it probably would for an inexperienced driver. |
The Tesla may be SOME car, but the company is in SOME trouble. I wouldn't be counting on them being around to service the warranty. |
| My current car is going on 15 years and 240K miles. It is safe, reliable, still drives great, and still looks pretty good too. I still love it, but (in part for budget reasons) I’ve given up repairing thing that don’t affect critical function, and there are a few annoying ones now. A new car is not in the budget for me right now, so I’ll probably drive it a few more years. I’m already looking forward though to Bluetooth, a rear-view camera, a new stereo, and a drivers side window that works all the time in my next car! |
Elon needs to get off of Twitter. He may have to leave the company (hope not) but tesla will survive. People have been predicting doom since inception. Planning on buying the Tesla Roadster when it comes out in 2020. 0 to 60 in 1.9 sec with a range of 600+ miles on one charge! Will pay cash. |
So you are more interested in saving money than being safe
|
| My car is 13 years old, but only has 90k miles on it. I hope it lasts another 5 years. I don’t feel like buying a new car now, although when it is time for a new car, I want one with all the bells and whistles! I will also pay cash for a new car as I hate debt! |
My 2019 pilot has these features |
You know why it's a win? Because they have more $$ to pay for awesome vacations or college tuition or the house they love! |
I've always found the best way to have more money is to earn it, but you do you

DP. Some of the new so-called safety features are incredibly distracting. I travel frequently and at my destinations I regularly rent cars, which all come decked out with the newest safety features. Several of these new features are very annoying, and I think that their beeps and warnings are probably more distracting than helpful. When I rent a car I find that I usually take 5 minutes to turn off those features before I even leave the lot and I am much happier as well as much safer. I discussed it with my insurance agent and it was his and the insurance company's (one of the biggest in the country fyi) opinion that 1) I am not at any greater liability for turning off the so-called safety features, and 2) that many of the features are so distracting that their use renders them to be un-safe for the drivers. |
Honey if the safety systems are beeping and warning it means you're driving dangerously. Take the hint.

| Just replaced in 2018 my 2007. Dzh has a 2012 that will be given to SS in 2022. So about every 20 years. We are not car people. |
| I keep cars until they cost more to fix then they are worth. The last car lasted 12 years. |
or math people |
