Why do bad things happen to good people?

Bad things happen to good people, Biblically as a test of faith, will you stay true to God even when you feel forsaken. We must remember God even turned his head from his Son. "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me."

We also must understand that with good comes evil, and that every second of every day we are grounds for a spiritual war.

As to the last person who posted, there is a special place in hell for people like that, I feel all child molesters and rapist should be executed, is it harsh, yes, is it just maybe, but I am not in a place to pass that judgment nor punishment on them.

We are seeing a lot more evil in this world, and a lot less faith and I do feel that they are tied to one another.

Back to the first poster, the book I go to when I begin losing faith is Job. That man literally had his life JACKED by the Devil, and God let it happen, why.... to test his faith, and in they end he was rewarded.

and if God can turn his head from his own son, imagine what he could do to an ordinary un-related Christian! Of course bad things happen to good people, considering who's in charge (if you believe in Him)

. We have free will and the world moves along under its own power. God doesn't make things happen to people as some big lesson, but we can find good in most situations even if it's a deeper understanding of limits and human nature.

OP here. I see the opposite. The people I know are quick to praise god for curing a relative of cancer, sparing their family in the tornado, allowing them to escape from the criminal with gun. However, they have no answer for why god let the other child die of cancer, killed the neighbors in the same tornado, and allowed the criminal to kidnap, rape, and kill the neighbor girl. The same people who praise god as omnipotent toss up their hands and say "we don't know god's ways" when confronted with horrors god could supposedly stop. Thus, my confusion. I realize that deep belief in god "answers" these questions for some and disbelief answers them for others, but so far I've found nothing that can remotely satisfy my questions. Thanks for your input.

most critical science lovers know Darwin is a decent theory and interesting but has tons of holes in it. Not even scratching the surface of the actual origins and mechanics of actual events.

I feel like at the core of those people, is a profound, absolutely terrifying fear of their god. Highly praise god for the good, discredit god for the bad (lest god come at them for thinking that way). Almost reminds me of a sort of Stockholm syndrome.

...there is no god

It's pretty straightforward, actually.

Appreciate the good in life, prepare for the bad. Be a good person because it's the right thing to do. If something bad happens to you anyway, people will help you (if you are a good person) and your loved ones will remember you kindly when you pass away. That's about it.
