Why do bad things happen to good people?

I feel like this is a really dishonest answer. You don't fear hell? You don't fear god sending you to hell? You don't fear the possibility of god's punishment?

Aloving father wouldn't threaten his children with hell -- unless he were the god of the bible.

Things to understand:

1. There is no Supreme Being watching over controlling us
2. We can influence what happens but we can not control what happens.
3. There is no good and bad, only mutual benefit and personal gain/lose
4. What benefits one may negatively benefit another
5. We are biological animals susceptible to our environment and death

Going back to a woman is not a weaker vessel, so you feel as if a woman can do ANY thing a man can do equally as well. If this is the case lets go to gym I want you to lift as much as me, or for a run, but you have to keep up, or a hike but we are going with 90lb packs and covering a min of 10 miles a day.

I am not by any means saying that a woman should be treated with any less respect or dignity than a man, but even a faithless person has to agree with anatomy, we aren't built the same we each have our rolls. Women lack the physical prowess of men but are compensated with empathy and a nourishing heart that is missing in many men.

And if I walk in faith, why should I fear hell ?

Who is pushing their faith?? Where are the attacks? If you don't feel secure enough to engage in philosophical discussions, that is within you. Asking thought provoking questions shouldn't threaten your faith. If you don't want to think about difficult questions, then don't - but don't accuse people who ask questions as "attacking."

There are people who are so sure of their opinions that they feel the need to convince others. Some of these are believers, some are atheists -- just as some are liberals and some are conservatives, etc, etc..

If you are a believer, you are not likely to be browbeaten by another believer, so you think it's just atheists. Same for atheists, liberals, conservatives, Christians, Muslims, and on and on.

Intolerance knows no bounds.

I'll buy that!

Your confusing a lack of faith with a varying opinion/belief. Just because someone may not share your faith does not mean they lack faith. Even a total absence of faith is a kind of faith itself.

Who's doing the attacking now?

And that may not be who you are simply how you are acting in this thread, you speak about open communication but you seem to not understand two way communication.

All I did was pointed out that people with varying opinions/beliefs can still have faith. If you consider that meaning me being full of myself, then yes, I am full of myself.

And you went into a rant over that? Even when you agree with what was said? Why?

Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People? I know that this question has personally been on my mind and on the minds of many around me. I can help but be sadden when I turn on the news and all I hear is that innocent people are being killed. From Israel to Palestine, from Russia to Ukraine; everywhere we look, bad things are happening to good people. Now the million $$ question: Why?
Many people believe that since God is the creator and the almighty that he is responsible for all the bad things that are happing in the world. But is this thought in line with what the bible teaches? Consider what the Bible says about God:
• Jehovah is righteous in all his ways- Psalm 145:17
• All his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness who is never unjust; righteous and upright is he- Deuteronomy 32:4
• Jehovah is very tender and in affection and merciful- James 5:11
Since the bible describes God as a loving God, does he then “test” us with bad things? James 1:13 states: When under trail, let no one say : ‘I am being tried by god.” Why? Because “with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone.” So who or what them is to blame for when bad things happen?
The answer can be found in the article “Why do bad things happen to good people” at:
www.jw.org
This article covers the bibles viewpoint on this subject matter. Some Sub-headings are:
• Being in the wrong place at the wrong time- “Time and unexpected events overtake them all”- Ecclesiastes 9:11
• Are humans responsible? Each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn sin, when it has been carried out, brings forth death – James 1:14-15
• Is Karma a cause of Suffering? Many believe that bad things happen to good people because of the law of Karma. They are reaping the fruitage of what they did in their previous lives.
• The Primary Cause! What does the bible indicate is the cause for all suffering.
Hope you enjoy this article.
