It wasn't even snowing at 5:30am this morning. Total BS. |
I agree. It is always something or someone that is the fault of their undoing. |
unless he could fly, otherwise he got into traffic on the way to work. |
That's the best laugh I have had all day. There were two inches of powdery snow. Not passable. They don't even plow in New Hampshire until there are 4 inches on the ground. |
When it snows, take out broom, dust off car. When you drive on snow, drive slowly, let the wheel slip a little if you skid and turn into a spin. Don't brake hard. Brake gently. Don't tail gate. There. Now you know how to drive on 2 inches of snow. Do you think people are born in New England with preprogramming for learning to drive when it snows? Ice is a different matter, but it was SNOW. |
4 school bus accidents in Prince William County this morning. All elementary school buses.
There was no snow first thing in the morning so high school traffic wasn't affected. Elementary and middle schools were. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where you had all sorts of accidents, flipped cars, etc. All for a DUSTING that was nothing first thing in the morning. A 2 hour delay would not have solved the problem. It would've just put teenaged drivers and high school buses on the road at the time of snow. Which is exactly when the elementary school buses were run into by cars. The best call in retrospect would've been to close schools. But I could only imagine the outcries of what a stupid decision that would be, how inconvenient it would be for parents blah blah blah. Story here: www.insidenova.com |
A car flipped in the Kensington post office parking lot this morning. Our streets were super slick.
Driving on snow is not difficult, but ice is a different story. Good for all of you who breezed around this morning without issues. We had a tough time. |
I had a mishap while driving my child to school (at a snails pace). I turned & my car hit an ice patch and slid into an old pile of snow/ice from that big storm 2 weeks ago. Only 4 kids were in class & the teacher didn't show up for 30 min. You can be as careful as you like, but there were slick spots covered by snow that can cause trouble regardless of the speed! Boy this site has a LOT of 'tude'! |
I think what we have is a whole generation of women who were brought up by over protective fathers who taught them that any adversity was cause for panic.
This morning's inch of snow was nothing. Whoever turned their cars over are idiots. |
Another all-knowing superior being has graced us with her presence on this thread! Praise the loord and bless her little heart! |
Funny I thought it had a lot of helicopter mommies and whiners. |
I think your colleague lied. Sorry but the snow started around 6:45am. Does he live in West Virginia? |
Whittier Blvd. near Whitman was a nightmare. Cars skidding, getting stuck... There were accidents with inexperienced student drivers as well as experienced. Teachers were late to scool. Principals were late. Kids didn't show up until 45 minutes into the day. This was a safety issue, and I give MCPS a big fat F. |
Sorry for the confusion. I am the one who said the teacher got into traffic, but not the op. |
Tell that to the driver of the overturned vehicle blocking Georgia Ave. this morning. It took me an hour and a half to get to work. I only hope the driver is OK. |
