I'm wondering if this is a temporary condition, or if I'll be plagued with pads forever (not that I think they're so bad, but that would certainly hamper swimming and other activities). Any thoughts or experience with this? Am I a biological freak?

I wore tampons my whole life pre kids too, even swore that I would never wear pads because they were gross. But tampons were very uncomfortable after kids, I could always feel them and they dried me out. I couldn't use pads either, they made my skin burn. All of them except the awful huge ones from the hospital. I used a Diva cup-like thing for awhile, and then switched to cloth pads.

Love them and haven't looked back.

What are cloth pads?

Burgundy washcloths???

Reusable, cloth pads, like reusable cloth diapers. They're considerably less gross to deal with than cloth diapers, though.

Where do you keep the soiled ones if you change your pad when you're out and about?

You probably have prolapse... I would see your OB.

Well you scared me. I looked it up and I don't have any of the following symptoms:

Sensation of heaviness or pulling in your pelvis
Tissue protruding from your vagina
Urinary problems, such as urine leakage or urine retention
Trouble having a bowel movement
Low back pain
Feeling as if you're sitting on a small ball or as if something is falling out of your vagina
Sexual concerns, such as sensing looseness in the tone of your vaginal tissue
Symptoms that are less bothersome in the morning and worsen as the day goes on

So I guess it's really mild if so? I'll increase my kegels....

Chances are your uterus has shifted after childbirth. It is very common...so common that docs don't even mention it. Google tampons with tilted uterus and you will see how common it is. I have tilted uterus and it takes a lot of shifting and maneuvering to get a tampon it the right way. It can be done though.

Well I'll be.... I'm the Piggy-backing-on-OP above, and just want to say thanks on behalf of women everywhere! Some others who are not me have chimed in, and it looks like you, PP, have made a difference in numerous lives today! Indeed I've always had a tilted uterus as well, but actually thought pregnancy had straightened it out. I bet you're right -- I bet it's shifted. I'll check out whether any ninja maneuvers during my next period can get a tampon in place. Many many thanks.

another one with a tilted U here. I too have to maneuver a tampon. I can get it in with one shot now b/c I know where it goes so to speak...

To the heavy bleeders, there are light hormone therapies to help with that if you are ok with drugs.

to the reusable pad people. :-l

To the always poster, this is my favorite product of all time for post partum and I wish they made diapers out of this amazing material:

I had a friend tell me that the smell that goes along with pads doesn't happen with cloth pads -- she said it's the chemicals or glue or something that makes that smell. I admit, I am not bothered enough by the smell to switch to cloth pads, although cloth diapers were fine (they were finite, the kids would be potty-trained at some point). I'll stick with Always pads.

I have a little zipper bag that I keep the clean pad in. I roll up the dirty pad, stick it in the zipper bag, and stick that in my purse or diaper bag.

Both go in the wash when I get home. NBD

PP that first mentioned the tilted U...yep, I'm the same way. For the most part, my "sweet spot" is inserting tampon back towards anus and to the left once it's in about an inch. Very funny. Just keep trying, you'll figure out your sweet spot. On a separate note (tmi), still have amazing sex (after 10 years and a kid). My DH thinks the feeling is still as amazing as ever. I assume it's due to my ever-moving U....of course this is not a scientific observation

Good luck with finding your sweet spot PPs!

Quoting myself now that I have read the whole thread and realize it's not a vaginal childbirth that does this but the tilted U. I have one too! How did you all figure out what works best for you?

Do you have a paragard? My doctor told me this was a side effect. I have a Mirena and don't get my period at all.
