Double posting. Sorry, meant Madison not Larla.

The parents in my child's school are all Ethiopian and they just do not understand the culture here. They are always wearing those shawls and it is so off-putting. What do you think is the best way to persuade them not to do that around HRCS while I am doing pickup?

Has anyone seen a pair of black Gucci pants? I wore them at drop off yesterday and lost them. I already checked the lost and found. If you find them, please leave them at the front desk. Thanks!

It's b/c Americans don't put any value in speaking another language. Being bilingual helps brain development so learning Navajo, Klingon, Elvish, etc is good for your kid even if they'll never use it.

Not correct. The brain benefits come from long-term, actual use of the second language. If you learn something but never use it, first of all you don't really learn it, and, second, there are no proven cognitive benefits. That's why it makes more sense to learn Mandarin or Spanish over Klingon.

This is not true. If my snowflake learns Mandarin or Spanish, she will only be qualified to make dumplings or 99 cent tacos, whereas if she learns Klingon she could meet William Shatner.

Snowflake? Snowflake?? Your snowflake caused DAYS OF SNOW DAYS. WE ***HATE*** SNOW DAYS!!!!! I don't care what language your snowflake learns, just keep them off the damn street in a city that shuts down when more than 3 snowflakes are out at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait, did someone just mention tacos? Mmmmmmmm.....tacos...............

I find it odd that you don't love your children. Why wouldn't you want to be with your 3 kids under 5 years of age for days upon end inside? Maybe next time you'll THINK before you bring kids into this world! Why have them if you don't want to spend a week-long snowstorm with them?

Does your reference to snowflake mean that all of your children are white?

Because as you know there is no yellow snow, or brown snow for that matter.

Is it open next Monday? I hear a storm is coming.

HRCS is operating under a strict "T-shirt weather" policy. If it's too cold to wear our oversized school-name-branded multicolor t-shirts to school, school is closed.

I have a great idea! Since you love kids so much and are so great with both young kids and snow days, why don't you post your address here on DCUM, and the next snow day, we will all drop our kids off at your house! We'll drop them off with snacks and lunch, all you have to do is have an even BETTER snow day or snow week with hundreds of kids in your home and tons of snow outside!!!

That's both win-win and love-love! Please post your address now, so we can have it ready...

Did anyone answer the other PP's question, is HRCS open tomorrow? We may need this address in the next hour to start planning for tomorrow....

Can someone tell me if, given the T-Shirt weather policy, HRCS will be open on April 7? I met someone on the DCUM explicit forum and this is the only day he can meet me 2 states away for "lunch". Will April 7 be a snow day under the new policy? Cross-posted in both the explicit forum and the weather forum.

City snow always looks grey to me. I find your post totally grey-ist and exclusionary of people with grey snowflakes.

Don't you mean "Ivies"?!? I can tell by your poor use of grammar and lack of editing/typing skills that yours kid won't.

The Ivies drool over our graduates.... How many public school graduates are polylingual in English/English/Mandarin/French/Spanish/Navajo/Elvish/Klingon and can do differential calculus in 5th grade in all those languages.

President Obama wishes HRCS had a POTUS preference.
