Excellent! Let's start a group and meet on this! There is such a need. |
You people are crazy. HRCS is THE BEST. I live a block away from Janney and send two of my kids there, and am sending my three-year-old twins there next year. You're all just jealous that you won't get in. |
Have you gone on the interwebz to have them design a new commuting plan for you? |
WHAT?! You have a good school to go to. Why do you have to take away slots from people who live EOTP and have crappy schools? You are so selfish. And now you are going to take two PK3 slots next year? What's your problem? |
Yeah. Even if the principal and the majority of the students are the same race as you. |
Charter schools are city-wide schools. HOW DARE YOU say that I don't have a right to send my kids there? It doesn't matter that I am IB for Janney--I pay taxes just like you do (which is more than I can say for the many residency cheaters who attend HRCS). And, I am a native speaker of HRCS's immersion language, so I can really support the language at home. |
have we confirmed that HRCS's immersion language is Klingon? |
Sorry, you're talking about a different HRCS. The HRCS of this thread has a Principal and most students of a different race. |
I think HRCS should have neighborhood preference. Anyone could still go! I see nannies and people at the Metro who look kind of, well, FARMS-y, so obviously they can buy in this neighborhood! It wouldnt exclude anyone! Also, I like the PP's suggestion that we get lifetime preference for buying in what WILL be the HRCS's boundaries, even though those boundaries have't been developed yet since there's no current neighborhood preference for charters.
Also, frankly, I can't really afford to live in this neighborhood much longer, so as someone who posted on DCUM first about wanting HRCS to have neighborhood preference, I'd like the right to take over an office on the top floor as an apartment. If I live in the school, how can they ever turn my kids-to-be away? |
Oh no! We were hoping for Elvish. Anyone interested in starting an Elvish playgroup? |
Well, I'm upset that HRCS does not know how to accommodate my mute DC -- if they are an immersion school, they should have the resources to handle this and I expect DC to be speaking in Klingon by the end of the year. If not, I'm going to tke this up with OSSE. |
Elvish! Your kids will only be able to speak to elves! Don't you know that to get ahead in the 21st century, they need to speak to Klingons! |
I don't care about the 21st Century, I am talking about the 26th Century. You need to read the REAL education blogs. http://www.klingon.org/smboard/index.php?topic=608.0 |
I have been looking for a Green, Elvish bilingual, Montessori, Expeditionary Learning, IB school FOREVER! I'm not pregnant yet but I was reading on the internets that kids who go to these schools end up schizophrenic and hating school, but if they aren't committed to a mental health facility by 18 they go on to get perfect scores on the LSATs and entering college 2 years ahead - only have to pay 2 years of tuition!!! Whoooohoooo!
Even though HRCS is already open, who do I have to pay to become a "founder" so I can get founder preference? This is the school for us! Although, once we get in, I will be lobbying the PTA to change the focus to English bilingual - so it's 50/50 American English and Ye Olde British King's English. Elvish is so yesterday. |
"English bilingual" -- good one PP! |
