I question their fitness as parents

End of story. Want to disregard stats, not my problem. Can't admit that the second amendment was written at a completely different time in society than we live in now, so be it. Think you're going to overthrow a supposedly tyrannical government with a bunch of hand guns, semi-automatics and rifles? In America? Keep dreaming. Need to hunt even though there is a Safeway a mile away from you? Too bad, so sad. You are absolutely right-we don't give a rat's ass whether you can keep your gun safe and no, we don't trust you. Wake up and smell the the blood of children. It's on your hands so it shouldn't be that difficult.

You're assuming that your family would not be safe in public because of my gun. How often are you out in public with your kids? How often have you been shot? Are you aware if anyone around you is carrying concealed?

In other words, because my children didn't attend Sandy Hook ES and my family wasn't at the movies in Aurora, I shouldn't be worried about your gun? More selfishness and refusal to look at the FACTS!

You can be worried, but the fact you take your children out in public and have not been shot to date, says that your worry might be out of proportion with the mathematical probability of my gun - or anyone else's gun - shooting your children.

Like I said, you continue to obfuscate the issue by choosing to ignore the suicides, accidental shootings, mass purposeful shootings and the fact that owning a gun makes you as a gun owner more vulnerable to death and disfigurement than any criminal that might invade your home might. Your comment is extremely obnoxious for lack of a better word because the implication is that as long as me and mine don't get hurt, why should I give a shit about some kids I don't know getting shot. That's what you don't understand about compassionate human beings-we care about OTHERS, not just ourselves. Don't you think Nancy Lanza considered herself a responsible gun owner? Just like you do? We are trying to reduce the mathematical possibilites of someone being killed by a gun to as little as one less than in the past. What don't you get about that?

You're stating you don't feel safe on the streets with your kids because people have guns. I'm stating that the statistics don't match up with your fears.

What don't I get about what you're saying? Unless you outlaw guns completely in the US, which is unconstitutional, you are doing nothing but taking guns away from law abiding citizens.

This guy owned a gun. He's glad he had it:

Really, your logic is that as long as it hasn't happened yet, it is nothing to worry about. So only victims families should care.

Statistically it is not. So wouldn't it make more sense to ban things or lobby for things that DO statistically matter?
