| I think the parents who are coming to Lynbrooks defense are parents who for many reasons don't want to pull their kids out of the center and thereby need to justify doing so after such an agregious mishap. It's more of justification for their own actions, than of Lynbrooks. To each their own!!! But please don't belittle this incident by saying it's no big deal...it's all good because it doesn't happen every day. |
Their crisis communication/PR consultant is behind many of these comments. The ongoing attempt of shifting the conversation from the issue on hand is a clear crisis communication tactic. The center must address our kids’ safety issue first; their processes/procedures second; and finally the head of the organization must take personal accountability and resign. BTW, why no one from the board is speaking up? |
| Does anybody know a good, safe and caring childcare center/facility in Bethesda-Rockville area? |
I just reviewed the posts that were supportive of Lynbrook and feel confident that the messages that suggest they are from parents are, indeed, posted by parents. Obviously, I have no way of knowing of the messages are their own thinking or prepared texts. But, there is nothing to suggest that the messages were posted by anyone other than parents. |
Yes, check out Rock Spring Child Care. |
I am curious to know what makes you say that they are actual parents? I too believe they are parents, but still, not understanding how you can say you are confident that they are parents from your end. |
If you click the link to the left for the Frequently Asked Questions, there is discussion of the type of information about posters that is collected. I don't want to reveal details of what I learned about the posters in question, but I can say one was posted from a major government agency. It is unlikely that a PR firm would be posting from such an address. |
I see, understood. Thanks! |
That's the first time I've read the FAQs. Hilarious. Thanks, Jeff. |
| Preschool/daycare is very much detail oriented business. If there is no owner on site, there are always will be problems/accidents. Director will get her salary doesn't matter what happens, only to the owner reputation is very important. Just my opinion. |
|
I totally agree with you.
Directors are salaried personel, if they get fired they will go find another job elsewhere. If a owner of a daycare is in the premises that would be the best, you cannot beat that. A Franchise is the worst - Also, you pay for what you get no doubt. |
Don't make a blanket dismissal of Franchises (I have nothing to do with them - but know some people who own franchized daycares). They have owners too - who have paid tens of thousands of dollars for the Franchise. Many of them are on-site much of the time and do a good job. Others are not. That's why you have to do your research for each place and talk to current parents directly. As you can read frequently on this board, one location of a franchise can be great while another can be awful. Depends on the involvement of the owner. |

Bright Horizons does this. They have a transition sheet any time children move to a different room or to the playground. I assumed this was a regulation they were following. This is in DC.
The kids shouldn't have gotten out. They're absence certainly should have been noticed, but what do you think these people do all day? Perhaps the staff were busy changing diapers, preparing a meal or a snack, setting up a learning activity, attending to a child that was injured or sick, playing one on one with a child, one staff member may have needed the restroom, or maybe, the staff was busy filling out required paperwork when the kids got out. And maybe, just maybe, they were attempting to do all of the above at the same time. |

We, parents, don't care what you do, you need to keep them in safety and alive. And if you after couple of min didn't realize that 4 kids are missing, that means you do nothing. I know that from my own experience, I worked in the daycare before. |
I own a daycare and I know for sure, even if I have the best teachers/caregivers, there is always a lot to be coordinated, oversee, and remind over and over again and again. I am always onsite and I can backup any teacher if they have to do something personal or take care child one on one, not talking about paper work. Director should organize work load, so teachers don't loose kids, when they do a paper work. My teachers call me from cell phones when they are on the playground and they need to take care something, like bathroom, phone call, or etc.. so I can come to the playgroung and back them up. |
