Republicans Applauding Executions

Oh, one last thing: Amiee4 is correct, this reaction is quite in keeping with what we've seen of American conservatives. The question isn't whether the executed were guilty or not. That's irrelevant. The point is that they believe criminals *should* be executed. And they feel put-upon that some "liberal elites" might point out that sometimes the innocent might be killed. And that detracts from the unalloyed, shall we say, pleasure that conservatives get from the feeling that justice has been done.

Facts are irrelevant. All you're doing is pissing them off and introducing cognitive dissonance. They have "faith" that the condemned were guilty, and introducing facts only clouds the picture.

AP and the major news outlets covered the story and Edwards' public response by Oct 12. Your statement is factually incorrect.

No, its not. National Enquirer reported it in Oct 2007, along with Huffington Post and New York. Edwards denied it. National Enquirer published a follow-up story in December 2007, that included a photograph of a visibly pregnant Hunter. These claims received little attention in the mainstream press. CBS News journalist Bob Schieffer stated "I believe that's a story that we will be avoiding, because it appears to me that there's absolutely nothing to it...This seems to be just sort of a staple of modern campaigns, that you got through at least one love child which turns out not to be a love child. And I think we can all do better than this one."

You are wrong. You may continue to refuse to admit it while bashing liberals, but you are still wrong. Here is the Wikipedia page about the affair:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Edwards_extramarital_affair

If you look at the fairly meticulous footnotes to the article, you will see that Edwards' denial was used as a springboard by the major media to get this topic into the news. Here are some of the references:

^ "Edwards Says Tabloid Report of Extramarital Affair Is 'Completely Untrue'". ABC News. 2007-10-11. Retrieved 2008-08-02.[dead link]

^ "Breaking News: John Edwards denies affair with campaign worker". Top of the Ticket (Los Angeles Times). 2007-10-11. Retrieved 2008-08-02.

^ "Edwards Denies Tabloid Report Of Affair". Political Bulletin (U.S. News & World Report). 2007-10-12. Retrieved 2008-08-02.

So, there are three examples of the major media covering the Edwards scandal by Oct. 12.

You are engaging in exactly the behavior that is common with right wingers. You have copied and pasted an allegation from who knows where (maybe you will tell us?). You have not taken the time to research the allegation beyond what you have copied and pasted. You deny stipulations from others that contradict your set of facts. Now, presented with evidence that your facts are incorrect, you will likely change the subject.

Cite?

The last study I saw showed reporters slanting somewhat left and editors slanting somewhat right. I assume we don't have to talk about publishers - i.e., corporations and billionaires.

Importantly, that study was before the success of Faux News. I'm skeptical that even reporters would skew left now, especially if you weighted it for audience size.

As I often find myself asking, where is this liberal media? I'd love to get me some.

The NYT - where I can read collections of lies distributed by Reps to push us into a stupid war? CNN - where I could watch the traitor Bob Novak every night? MSNBC, where I can watch Joe Scarborough every day? NPR, where it has been shown that there are more Republican politicians interviewed than Dems, and where they never have an expert further left than the Brookings Institution?

On every major outlet, every night I can find out what's going on with big business and the stock market. Those of you who are so up on the liberal media: where do I go for my nightly labor report or consumer report?
