S/O question about eating habits of thin people, what do you eat.

Anonymous
I eat whatever I want, but I limit the fat. For example, if I want pizza, I'll get a slice or two but take off 1/2 of the cheese. I try to eat a lot of fiber as well: frosted mini wheats for breakfast, turkey sandwich on whole wheat for lunch, a granola bar and apple for snacks. Dinner is usually a pasta, chicken or flank steak protein with a veggie and starch. Honestly, I think it's just genetics. My dad is tall and thin, and he can (and does) eat whole bags of chips and candy bars daily and hasnt gained an ounce in 40 years.

I also drink tons of water and maybe 1 diet coke every other day.

I wake up each day at 5AM and am at the gym on a piece of cardio equipment by 5:45. Additionally, 2xs a week I bike to work, which is 30miles round trip. I have a gym at my office and very often squeeze in 30min at lunch. I also hike Old Rag at least once a month.
When I say "every day" sometimes it is not traditional gym time, my bike to work is just under an hour each way. Sometimes, I'll just do a run outside and finish up with strength training at home.
Some people don't like exercise. I actually love it and it look forward to it. I make time for the gym. There are things I sacrifice to exercise, which include TV and a late bed time. I also have an amazingly supportive (and very active as well husband) who gets the kids ready and off to daycare in the morning. He does his workouts at work (has a gym at his office as well) and he also hits the gym each many evenings. We do bike rides together on weekends, with a trailer pulling the kids.

It all falls apart when your kids grow older than 5 and have their own sports and activities to get to in the evenings.

How is that? I'm working out mainly in the mornings and at lunch, unless my kids do swim and have to be up for practice at 5AM, I don't see the conflict. I purposely work out in the mornings and at lunch in order to be walking in the door each night with the kids by 5PM. My husband takes the time to work out in the evenings, thus minimizing our children's time in daycare.

Personally, I don't make up excuses and reasons to not exercise. It is a priority and I will always fit it in. I know plenty of working moms with kids of all ages who make time to be fit.

I counter this by doing a lot of exercise, at least 1.5hrs a day and also bike and jump at the opportunity to do a long day hike or anything physical. I also do a lot if interval training, which I swear by. None of this silly low heart rate to lose fat, which I think is a bunch fo BS.

If I did not exercise like crazy, then I'd be obese.

Im 34 5'8" and 145.

I doubt you have kids. Who has time to exercise 1.5 hours every day with kids?

This sounds great! Especially given the terrifying alternative of spending hours every day weighing out chopped chicken to the gram and logging calories.

Yup, I love to eat and I balance my high calorie consumption with lots of calorie burn. If I were a SAHM and had kids in school, I'd probably be at the gym 2hrs a day and consume 3,000 calories a day. I love to cook using whole foods such as butter, cream, and cheese. Rationing food to me sounds like complete misery. I'll only do it if famine strikes.

43 year old here, and I've been the same weight since I was 18. I eat whatever I want, but most of the food I eat is healthy, non-processed food. I do eat cakes, ice-cream and cookies, but again these are either home made or high quality products with real butter and cream rather than all the fake stuff. I also make sure that I eat a good breakfast. For me, the fact that I don't want to eat when I get stressed or upset is also important. I also find that I get full quickly and find it unpleasant to overeat. Food to me is just food. I like it, but it does not rule my life. And I don't enjoy fast food.
