Would a Hillsdale graduate have reduced professional opportunities?

Just do Prager U. Way cheaper with same outcomes.

It's just intellectually lazy to classify people into groups based on your own predetermined biases. Saying a kid from Hillsdale is some MAGA nut is the same as saying all black people are criminals. It's staggering that more leftists don't see that...

Back to the topic (which is just political clickbait), each candidate should be judged on the entirety of their profile - not just where they went to school. I'd rather hire someone who comes from Community College with a lesser pedigree but works hard vs. a blue haired, trust fund high performer from NYU who is easily triggered and will need alot of down time to recover from their various emotional traumas.

What's intellectually lazy is equating racial discrimination with political bias. No one can help the color they are born with, and it isn't predictive of values or choices. A purposeful and freely-chosen association with a political entity can be predictive of values and choices, however. You acknowledge this yourself in your rant about 'leftists' and what you think they think. Criticizing others for a thing you are actively doing it yourself is a maneuver only trolls think is clever.

Where is the racial discrimination you're alleging? But your post reminded me that Hillsdale became famous as one of the few colleges back in the 1990s to refuse any federal funding, which meant it didn't have to comply with Federal affirmative action requirements. As it is, those federal requirements no longer exist. Is that the "racism" you're accusing of Hillsdale?

ND, a top 20 university, is not remotely akin to Libery or Hillsdale.

+1 Notre Dame has a ton of name recognition, has so for decades, plus known for sports. It's viewed more similar to Georgetown but a notch below.

You were doing so well before your last sentence.

Are you ESL? The PP made an invalid comparison involving racism, which was subsequently called out. NP said nothing about Hillsdale at all.

Just as a side note , I always find it interesting when people talk about “blue haired” kids as a synonym for far-left college students. Have you guys been to a college in the last 10 years? The only kids I see with pink and purple and blue hair are the middle school girls from a local private school.

Equating Hillsdale or Liberty to Notre Dame seems uninformed, if not provocative.

Notre Dame is a Top 25 university that has broad recognition as such, along with one of the largest, most engaged, most influential alumni networks in the U.S. and across the globe.

Hillsdale and Liberty are indoctrination centers that happen to have a campus.

I think that it would definitely limit his employment and professional prospects to graduate from this school. Certainly my colleagues from the Bethesda area would trash his resume.

Curious if others agree.

I wouldn’t hire him.

Next you are going to say they’ll toss Georgetown, BC, Villanova, Holy Cross… You sound incredibly, shockingly, stupendously ignorant equating Liberty with Notre Dame.

The Hillsdale line on the resume would be a bit of a red flag but not disqualifying, and I work in a uniquely bipartisan field.

You have a point

If you are politically ambitious and want to work in DC area Hillsdale is connected to far right wing circles, think tanks, law firms, etc.

Kind of a hard place to be different but technically they embrace "freedom" and there are a few radical students on campus. I do not think having a degree from there is a negative if the student is smart and interviews well (like most college grads!)

I wouldn't hire one. Just being honest. Going there signals that you are rigid and have an agenda.

Hard pass here too.

Exactly.

Their choice in college is very telling.

Yes, it is a good pipleline to those industries/firms, just like Barnard, Wesleyan, etc. appeal to far left law firms, think tanks, etc.
