MCCPTA is dcum, so you can add dcum to the list. |
That is in fact the conclusion of the OLO report, which you are here disparaging for unspecific reasons. |
They list classes in our course guide but when our kids go to sign up, the classes don't actually exist. The principal claims they cannot allot the staffing to those classes and its funding. You are lucky if this isn't happening at your kids schools and they have a wide variety of classes. |
The few leaders of MCCPTA who have been around for years, especially the tech and the gifted folks have no clue and are self serving. |
I just think that they will post their real viewpoints on this forum because they can’t be anonymous on their listserv. |
The tech committee leaders are new, so I have no idea what you're talking about. |
OK, but the OLO report was based on classes offered during Spring 2025. |
Yes, for our school, its listed offering classes, which we don't actually have. They are looking at the course guide, not actual classes. |
| Parent of two current students here. I think he's making hard choices quickly in a system that has an overwhelming amount of challenges. Do I love every solution? No. Do I think the program analysis, for example, could have used more community input? Yes, but I see why they wanted to get it done with the boundary studies to synergize on those changes, otherwise you'd end up with a ton of additional modifications in a couple of years to boundaries, programs, etc. Sometimes you have to get things done on a schedule and move them forward. The system doesn't have the money to be going around and around making several levels of iterative changes over multiple years. I like MCPS and think my kids are getting a good education but you have to have blinders on not to recognize that the district as a whole needs some serious changes if we are going to manage over the next ten to twenty years. |
I believe there was one section based on the course guides, but most of it was based on actual enrollment data. "MCPS provided enrollment by course and school for the Spring of 2025, which is the data summarized." |
