A) Because different people want different things.
B) this student probably wanted to go to NYU
C) they used to encourage us to apply for the Jefferson Scholars program and we would get an early acceptance to keep going in the process.

I know some public HS have their Naviance set so that "guests" can access it. There's one in the Chicago suburbs that I accessed once through reddit. Not sure about others.

The only other school I am aware of is Harvard Westlake. They publish annual college handbook, which includes gpas for unhooked students.

For all the naysayers to SAT score, please review this thread.

This is real hard data for analysis, not your daily fictional anecdata on dcum.

All of their 1580+ kids got accepted into a T20, except for their # 1 who attended Stern, which is essentially a T15.

One thing I noticed is that it rarely happens they got only one T20 acceptance. If the applicant is at that caliber, they usually got multiple T20 acceptances.

The vast majority of T20 admits are from RD.

Rigor matters.

Thanks. My kids with good stats prefer looking into the honor programs and school with scholarship. Exactly your point A)
