It's just "author", you don't need to add "book" that's tautological.

Not in my field where you can also write lots of articles.

The writers of articles are either journalists, or researchers. They are not authors.

They are literally called “lead authors” and “co-authors.” You are being unnecessarily pedantic.

No, just accurate.

I think DCUM shines in DC area strengths. The politics forum is often filled with RWNJ racist Fox bullets but occasionally there are really good insights on polling data, election results and Congressional maneuvering that are as good as what you read in the Washington Post (sometimes better because they’re made in real-time).

I mean, I think most people were aware this might be a troll post. But who cares? Some of the answers were interesting. I don’t care about the IQs that much, but I like hearing about who people are and why they’re here.

(And to be honest, there are some intelligent posters on this site. You have to Wade through some muck to find them, sure, but that’s just humanity).

Intelligent and interesting are not always bedfellows.

I rarely read a genuinely interesting post on here, and when I do, I'm astonished.

+1. Although the quality of responses has declined considerably in the last several years. I miss the days when DCUM was mostly full of highly educated DC-area posters.

When I first found DCUM I was delighted with the content and the intelligence behind postings. It's gone downhill.

I'd have to agree with this. People could be snarky but in a funny and clever way. Now a lot of posters are just downright stupid. I found DCUM in 2007.

+1

I miss the wit. Humor is the best indicator of intelligence.

We are left with contrarians who lower the discourse with their pedantic drivel.

The moderation here is heavy-handed, perhaps with good reason, and a lot of posts get deleted (many times as collateral damage), so it reduces the incentive to put a lot of work into posts that "elevate the discourse".

Grow up, people! And, be kind!

+1. And money and finance is the weakest forum for intelligent thought in my opinion. If those people are representative of the average DMV area person and their financial literacy, they are doomed…
