It may be good if you have it but now I believe you dont need this.
It really is the gpa and the rigor.

The rest is not great.

The GPA is too low. The 75th percentile last fall was a 4.5; median was a 4.4 and bottom 25th percentile was a 4.20 (that category is not for unhooked wealthy white kids fro McLean).

What GPA/SAT is needed if your kid goes to Lewis, Mount Vernon, or Annandale?

The GPA is too low at the moment, but if DC can get their wGPA up to 4.4 by the end of 1st semester senior year, then DC have a good shot, assuming DC has "demonstrated rigor" by taking APs in the core and doing well enough, e.g., B+s or better. DEs alone are not going be enough.

As for required SAT scores, you might consider this thread:

Sadly, 4.0 doesn't get anywhere nowadays. The rule should be 3.8 weighted to 4.0 in all state schools; anything above is Ivy League. Just doesn't make sense anymore.

How would they do that exactly? Accepting as many students as they can accommodate.

canada can do it. I mean, there shouldn't be an expectation to get higher than a 4.0. It seems like a flaw. 4.0 is perfect; nothing higher exists in college. It's some bs.

Because 4.0 weighted means you have Bs and maybe even some Cs now.

You have to know this.

UVA just takes the top 'x' number of students applicants from each school, based on GPAs. My daughter got beat out by a .04 decimal place.

They don't have time or don't really care about holistic review of candidates.

I think PP means that there shouldn't be so much grade inflation

This simply isn't true. I'm sorry about your daughter's experience. But they most certainly do a holistic review.

Given that most kids now get A's by cheating with AI, I would assume that the SAT score will matter more and more as it's one of the last true tests of aptitude.

Keep telling yourself that.

They list the kids on a spreadsheet and cut out the bottom 50%, THEN do a holistic review.
