Woman killed in aggressive deer attack

So if they PLAN TO FEED THE POORS with dead deer, it's the Arlington Way to ignore the cooked books wrt community outreach, lazy inept Board that over delegates to "staff," insider dealing wrt deer management study and execution (literal execution)?

Not sure where you live, but Fairfax County does have a Deer Management Program. It was pretty disconcerting the first time I saw the hunters in the park behind my house!

Montgomery County has one too.

DC deer are managed via sharpshooters in the National Parks. https://www.nps.gov/rocr/learn/management/white-tailed-deer-management.htm#:~:text=What%20is%20the%20Deer%20Management,affecting%20the%20environment%20is%20made.

There's not really any area nearby where animal rights folks have prevented culling afaik.

A looming souce of grief for me in Arlington. They plan to kill nearly half the deer.
County staff developed plan with White Buffalo. Guess who got the contract to shoot them? Right you are.

The meat very likely will get processed and donated to food pantries. Sounds humane enough to me.

They always say that, but have you ever seen a single "food pantry" that serves wild venison? Nope. It just disappears. Probably put into dog food or hot dogs.

How many food pantries have you audited to be able to say this?

Have you ever even been to one or worked/volunteered at one that used rando venison meat brought in?

Name it with contact information. A single one.

They feed it to the homeless?

I volunteer for the Dulles North Food Pantry. When we get donated venison, it gets taken within hours. I’ve never seen venison stay in the freezer more than a day. It’s a regular but sporadic item for us, but it goes quickly.

I enjoy seeing the fawns every spring and sometimes I can even start to recognize them as they grow towards the fall. Sometimes they just sit on the grass and have a nice rest. They feel safe in the open on my property and don't run.

I buy 80lbs at a time of raw peanuts in the shell and toss them out.

I get a lot of crows, too, and sometimes they leave me little sparkly things on the outside table where I put their peanuts.

Isn't it illegal to feed deer in most places? One reason is potential for spreading the deer version of mad cow disease.

I believe the official name is Pissed-off Deer Malady.

I just adopted a small dog, I cab’t let it go outside because of deer, foxes, raccoons, now coyotes. I can’t afford to buy or build a fence.

So the deer would have gotten off without criminal charges if not killed? Criminals get away with everything these days.

The deer was clearly standing his ground.

Would you choose the Bear over the deer? (after this I am not so sure).

Male or female bear?

Either will kill you. Never choose the bear.

So do humans. We're really the worst.

I don't eat vegetation.

Anonymous wrote:Deer overpopulation has other effects beyond starving deee. The overeat the meadow areas and then that has follow on effects for birds and animals that rely on meadows. When Yellowstone reintroduced wolves, the whole ecosystem bounded back because the wolves were able to curb the overpopulation of the grazers.

A whole cascade effect disrupting the ecosystem because why? Because we killed the natural predators around here a long time ago. I don't love it either but now we have to cull the population because of our own mistakes. But it should be done as quickly and humanely as possible.

The word used was everything, which, if you look at humans as a group, applies pretty well.

The indigenous animals voted. Your dog needs to go.
