Statement by Hanover Park PD https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/hanover-park-police-say-officer-arrested-by-ice-was-hired-legally:

What Hanover Park PD Says:

Late Thursday afternoon, Hanover Park police issued a statement saying Officer Bojovic was hired "in full compliance with federal and state law."

Before his hiring, the village confirmed through the federal government that Bojovic was legally authorized to work in the U.S., according to the police department.

"At the time of his hire, Officer Bojovic presented the Village with a Work Authorization Card, which was issued by the federal government's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The card was valid and recently renewed. We also conducted a full background check, including his criminal history with both the Illinois State Police and the FBI," part of the police department's statement reads.

"The bottom line is that all information we received from the federal government indicated that Officer Bojovic is legally authorized to work in the United States as a police officer. Clearly, without that authorization, the Village would not have hired him. Additionally, the Village has not received any notice from any federal or state agency that his work authorization status has ever been revoked."

Police said the village also confirmed Bojovic’s immigration status allows him to carry a firearm while on duty.

Thank you for the update. I’m going to take the police department’s word over that of anything the federal government has to say about the status of this man.

How would someone who overstays their tourist visa get legal status , they didn't check the background

I am a naturalized citizen so I understand the immigration process better than an average person, one cannot get a SSN on a tourist visa, that just doesn't happen. How did he manage to get a law enforcement job without a SSN? This means, at some point he had a valid work authorization and along with that a SSN was issued, just to say he worked on a tourist visa is misrepresenting the facts. OTOH, maybe he faked a SSN and police department didn't even bother to complete the initial inquiry, the probability of that exists but is very slim.

They need to share further details because based on the information shared, it looks like ICE is fabricating the facts.

Well if he's a police officer, he probably carries a firearm. Since he's an alien, that right there is illegal.

He is not authorized to carry a firearm.

So as predicted ICE is not being honest.

The law you cite applies to non-citizens who are here illegally. This officer was not. There are exceptions for some non-citizens. Apparently, this officer met them, according to the last sentence of the statement from the police department that hired him. Did you even read it?

Military enlistment by legal residents would probably blow PPs mind.

That's rich coming from someone who supports a convicted felon. As president!

You people love flinging that little accusation around. We happen to know that the trial was a sham and the charges were filed for one reason only - to prevent Trump from winning again. Worked great, huh? It is just a matter of time before the bogus conviction is overturned.

A unanimous jury found him guilty.

“This court finds that neither the vacatur of the jury's verdicts nor dismissal of the indictment are required by the Presidential immunity doctrine, the Presidential Transition Act or the Supremacy Clause. Trump's own motion to dismiss acknowledged that a president-elect is not entitled to immunity from criminal proceedings.” - Judge Merchan

“The president-elect had argued in a motion to dismiss that his ascension to the White House mandated his conviction be vacated. It did not!” - Judge Merchan

The cases against Trump were “paused” due to presidential immunity which is its own future case. Understand that Jack Smith paused his case without prejudice. It can and will be refiled when he’s out of office

Now you know why Trump thinks he can run and win in 2028. He plans to die in office to avoid what will happen to him if:
1. Dems sweep house and senate 2026
2. His mental incapacity will very quickly decline in 2026
3. Supreme Court Injustices will be held accountable
4. Epstein unredacted docs, videos, audio will be made public
5. #4 will take down US and Global leaders never seen before in the history of this country. Suicides will ensue. Maybe like Epstein? In that case, they’ll be suicided.
6. Trump and Netanyahu are both avoiding legal hell for the crimes they’ve committed. Dying in office is their mutual goal.

If you think democrats are sitting idly by while you “people” think you’re making us weaker…”YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU’VE DONE. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU’VE UNLEASHED ON THIS COUNTRY.” — courtesy of Erica Kirk

Isn’t a rational explanation that the officer forged documents? Hardly a rare occurrence as document fraud is extensive and it not surprising the systems notionally in place failed. Note he was caught when he endeavored to purchase a gun. ICE could be wrong, but that strikes me as unlikely.

I am from Chicago and my best friend from high school taught in that district for over 30 years. A tough place known for corruption (although there are worse). I find some of the comments here emotional and naive.

Did you read the police department's statement above? I bolded the pertinent parts in case you don't feel like reading it. The officer would have had to have had a completely fake identity to get through the screening he received (federal, state police, and FBI). This includes being fingerprinted. How likely do you think it is that he faked his way through all these levels of screening?

Nice try.

Hopefully he will be charged with the crimes he committed, tried, convicted, serve time, and be deported.

Why would anyone cheer deporting a hard-working, tax paying member of society?

I thought you said you were going after violent grang members, terrorists, and drug dealers! In fact, you have take resources away from the violent criminals in order to deport this guy?! And you expect to be thanked? When there is a shortage of police officers?

Yes, what could possibly go wrong with letting just anybody with a job stay in the country? No need to check them out to make sure they aren’t a criminal or a terrorist, or approve their desire to stay. Just c’mon in & get a job & you’re good to stay. Perfect.

Nice dodge. As evidenced by many quotes earlier in the thread, we were promised that ICE was going after the worst of the worst, the gang members and rapists. Instead, they are allowing the violent crimes to go unchecked because all the resources are needed to detain non-violent immigrants who overstayed their visa. Gotcha.

You’re joking, right? I could leave post after post if the criminal aliens that have been arrested. In fact there USED TO BE a thread here listing some of those aliens and the disgusting crimes they committed. It was deleted by the moderator. I guess facts are inconvenient for your narrative.

Here is a sample of some of those arrested recently. And this is only a drop in a sea of arrests.

FOR THE ZILLIONTH TIME, WE ARE ALL HAPPY WHEN VIOLENT CRIMINALS ARE ARRESTED. We just think it is INSANE to take resources away from addressing violent crime (most of which is homegrown of course) in order to focus on law-abiding immigrants.
