The Virginia governor's debate is tonight!

Call me old fashioned but it's beneath a political candidate to interrupt her opponent every single time she speaks. But I was already voting for Spanberger

It’s what “worked” for the Orange Menace. Now they all do it.

+100 same here.

Is Youngkin not a conservative governor?

What keeps happening is people keep proposing more give aways for the military. This wasn't something the Democrats took away. They just didn't agree to yet another freebie request that is already covered by another branch of government.

There are a lot of 100% disabled veterans in VA, and lots work on the federal govt, as it is not hard to get a 100% rating. Virginia literally cannot afford to pay tuition for all of their kids.

Like a kid in class who is amazing at memorization but can’t actually critically think on the spot once asked something that wasn’t memorized. You could see her stimming when the camera panned out.

However - that all plays well with the NOVA crowd because they see themselves in her (wonky anxious striver).

Well said.

I guess you missed the word "again."

My local Democratic legislators were immovable and did not care; they wanted to use the money to provide financial aid for immigrants (yes, really). Youngkin and Earle-Sears intervened to save it. I am relying on it and don’t trust it will continue to exist if Spanberger is elected.

Why are they not using their GI Bill college funds? That’s what Vance used to pay for Harvard Law.

Republicans hate black women they are racist to the core.

There is no way she gets elected in VA. MAGA is not voting for a black woman.

Only DCUM thinks that shit will happen.

By the way where are her policies besides bathrooms?

She supports nuclear power to help solve Virginia's energy problems. Spanberger could only talk about money she felt was owed to Virginia by the feds.

Spanberger complimented Youngkin on moving toward nuclear energy.

She only remembered after Sears brought it up. It wasn't one of her talking points about clean energy, but brought as something she would do to employ Virginia citizens.

Not propaganda - Virginia Dems eliminated VMSDEP, the STATE tuition waiver for Gold Star families and disabled veterans, and Youngkin restored it. It was not being abused by out of state families; it simply wasn’t being funded appropriately, and rather than fund it to fulfill a promise to veterans, Democrats in the stage legislature imposed restrictions that effectively eliminated the program. Scott Surovell in Fairfax was involved in eliminating these benefits and was absolutely immovable despite repeated calls by my family and numerous other military families.

Earle Sears was a proponent of restoring the original VMSDEP benefits. That means something to military families.

And here are sources from Summer 2024; just because you didn’t know about this or pay attention, or it doesn’t matter to you doesn’t mean it is propaganda.

NP. Thank you for setting the record straight on the VMSDEP.

It’s a crucially important issue for many families.

The federal government does not give 100 percent tuition to every disabled veteran - where are you getting that?? Some people used their own GI bill benefits and don’t have any to allocate to their kids, some served before 2001. It is not easy to get a 100 percent rating, the Washington Post hit piece notwithstanding - we fought the VA for almost 10 years before getting benefits for my burn pit veteran husband.

If you can’t afford to support disabled veterans, maybe stop creating so many disabled veterans. I didn’t make the decision to deploy people repeatedly to wars everyone else forgot about.

Anyway, for those affected in Virginia and who care about veterans issues, VMSDEP is only fully funded through 2026. Many of us who have been relying on this program are desperate to see it renewed and don’t want to go through what we did when the program was eliminated with no notice in 2024.

Right. We can blame the Republicans and their previous generation’s “big lie” (WMDs) for that.

I mean also look at what party totally gutted the VA. Republicans are no friends to veterans. My Dad is a veteran and former military doctor and Republicans totally gutted the health programs for those who are on active duty.

Meanwhile, my 80-yo father just developed prostate cancer which appears to be very treatable. But since he was in Vietnam, he is going to get thousands of dollars a month from the VA.

I understand that you are a sock puppet and have created all of the posts on VMSDEP, but this is not an issue that 99% of the population cares about.

Not a sock puppet, but I did post to set the record straight about VMSDEP. And believe me, I am well aware that most people do not care about veterans. Thanks for confirming it.

Virginia pays for illegal aliens to go to its state universities. Virginia provides the Virginia tuition assistance grant to illegal aliens. The Democrats chose to crap on disabled veterans in their push to eliminate VMSDEP. That was their political choice - so do not say this is not about veterans. Democrats in Virginia choose higher education for illegals over higher education for spouses and children of disabled veterans.
