Do you think the children of the millions of recent immigrants are vaccinated? Does that health threat concern you?

DP. If they are in school, yes. VFC also provides them for free if the child is uninsured.

Wrong. I work in public schools. We can't ask questions or require vaccinations.

You are not a nurse.

Every state requires vaccinations in general, but many allow for personal or religious refusal.

+1. Not sure if you live in some random red state with no requirements for vaccines for public schooling but in DC and Maryland you are required to submit proof of vaccination upon enrolling your child. I had one vaccine listed outside of the consolidated record and you would better believe that the school nurse followed up with me to make sure I sent proof of that last vaccine.

Nope...Minnesota allows exemptions for for personal or religious beliefs.

And what do you think the rate of immigrant families filing for personal or religious belief exemption has been, as opposed to getting free vaccines?

It depends on their level of education and their beliefs. Where I've worked, quite a few. Enough to be a problem for classmates. Doesn't take many to cause spread.

Sounds like an excellent reason to remove vaccine exemptions from schools.

+1 The people filing for these exemptions, which are time consuming, are wealthy white MAHA type moms who trust "their own research." And I'm glad I live in Maryland where the school nurse does check up to make sure my kid has every vax they require.

What?? What district do you work in? In MCPS you must provide vaccination records unless there is a religious exemption.

The stats say otherwise (between 5 and 10%). It's not a lot but enough to spread diseases.

How do you know student's vaccination status? Unless you are the RN, you do not get that info with HIPPA

In Texas it was the Christian Mennonites who sparked the last measles outbreak--and they had been in the USA for generations. In California, the Disneyland measles outbreak a few years ago highlighted that the non-vaxed kids were in a lot of the crunchy LA adjacent areas with rich white people. Now their vax rate is way up once they got rid of bogus religious exemptions, and only allow medical exemptions.

You seem determined to question what I know. In schools, FERPA, not HIPPA controls info. Social workers, school psychologists, admin, etc have access to medical records provided by parents.

Based on the article, seems that republicans have been dumping misinformation and lies about vaccines into the Somali immigrant community. I wonder it is one of the Republican methods to kill off the immigrant community.

It's parents buying into Kennedy's pseudo-vaccine idioticy. These parents made a choice not to vaccinate their child/children and their death is on them.
