Also a chain, but local (owned by Joanne Chang, Harvard alum): Flour Bakery. Cicada for Vietnamese coffee is further away in Central Square, between Harvard and MIT |
The student-run coffee shops at UChicago are really cool. https://college.uchicago.edu/news/campus-stories/convenient-caffeine-uchicagos-student-run-coffeehouses |
+1. They opened a location on Maple Street. RIP PJs on Maple and their little courtyard. |
Flour is good. I used to really like 1369, a chain of two, one near Central Sq., one in Inman. And does anyone remember Pamplona near Harvard Sq? It had a timeless feel with reserved waiters and basic stucco interior. I just looked it up and it was a victim of the pandemic. |
Not sure if it is still there but Bolt in Providence was great. |
Grit in Williamsburg is really good (ik it's a Charlottesville business but 🤷♂️) |

Humble Bagel on Freret. The everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and the special cold brew refrigerated and served in the canning jar. I wish DC would go to grad school there so I’d have an excuse to keep coming back. |
