And a lot lower stakes so not really comparable in my opinion. I think we’ll all survive after a bad coffee recommendation. |
I live 2 miles away. I’m coming ![]() |
Guilty! For morning tours, we love to get a coffee first and poke around. For afternoon tours, we love to get a smoothie. It's a fun way to take the pressure off the whole crazy process. |
Collegetown Bagels in Ithaca. |
The beautiful thing about people in the same town preferring different coffee spots is that the line ends up being shorter for all of them! |
PP: You can download the Maman app and get some perks (we got a free cookie and then a $5 reward). Depending on where you live, one of their other DC locations might be closer to you. |
Ann Arbor people please speak up! This is serious! |
LOVE Tunnel City Coffee - Williams College |
I know Ann Arbor reasonably well. I lived there for 2 years (1998-2000), worked there for close to 20, have a kid at the University of Michigan. I hate coffee. I mean, it smells nice and all, but to actually drink the stuff? Vile. I tried iced coffee once. It tasted of pain and suffering. Never again. More of a hot chocolate guy myself. Among the national chains, Panera's hot chocolate is actually pretty good (I suspect that's not what the local-or-bust crowd wants to hear). For Ann Arbor local, I'd say Cafe Zola has the best, though I haven't had it in years (and I'm conflicted about the place due to how the owner treats staff, according to a variety of social media). For fresh horchata, go to Produce Station. For Cuban-style batido, try the Chocolate Español at Frita Batidos. |
The micro-sized espresso truck on the sidewalk between Tavistock Square and UCL. |
Right? And anyone who knows and enjoys coffee can stumble on and recommend a coffee shop. This isn’t so serious as to require verified credentials! |

Aromas Coffeehouse at W&M |
It’s fascinating to me how many Aromas fans are chiming in here. Very indicative of how little I should trust the advice of anyone in this forum. |
