How many states have you been to?

What is your child's goal?

How do you so this time wise? Do you just hurry through different countries? Cruises? Have an infinite amount of time off?

43

I mostly just need the NW: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota + Kentucky & Louisiana

Very achievable, and why not. The US is a beautiful country with lots to see in every state.

There is not LOTS to see in every state.

But there is something. For sure.

If I ever end up in Mississippi for two days with no plans and a rental car I know I’ll have a great time. But I’m in no hurry because I’ve been to every state it touches.

I'm not coded for completing lists but I know some folks get a kick out of it. Part of travel is supposed to be fun and kids can add a bit to that. There are something like 20 playgrounds in Central Park in NYC, Charleston SC has great walking tour maps geared towards kids, the Badlands of South Dakota are still my kids' favorite natural area.

I've spent some time in about half the states (I'm not counting airports or just driving through) and there are some states that I have no desire to visit. Like I said, I'm not a list checker.

50. My grandparents were big on national parks, my parents liked to take us to big cities on trips, and then I worked with American Indian tribes for a decade and traveled to rural states. It also helped that we drove 20 hours to visit grandparents 4-5x a year and often stopped along the way for several days.

I've been to every continent too. I actually was on a Kodiak boat in Antarctica when covid started.

This is OP and I didn't make those replies. Appreciate the suggestions, Charleston especially. I've been there but not with kids.

If you're going to count that way, you have either three more or twelve more to go, depending on whether you include only occupied territories.

I think I've been to 28. I'd love to continue to travel, but it has gotten so expensive. I used to alternate between domestic and international travel every year, but now I have to space it out even more. I've seen a lot more than many people though, I don't think DCUM is representative of the American population.

I been everywhere. But just one hour in Alaska. Age 48, travel too much.

I think it would be cool to visit all 50 states, but I don’t see it happening for me. States that I need:

-Oklahoma
-Michigan
-Minnesota
-North Dakota
-Hawaii

I am sure I will make it to Hawaii and Michigan one day. I was 40 miles from North Dakota once and thought of driving up there just to check that box. Not sure if I will ever get to Oklahoma? Maybe if I do a road trip one day and get there?
