You are oblivious. Israel is kicking Iran's you-know-what, and shows every sign of continuing to do so until the Iranian regime collapses. And if U.S. support to Israel makes Americans targets, that ship has sailed. It's hardly news that U.S. intelligence, resupply, and deterrent capabilities have been in play from the outset; more direct intervention by US air or naval forces will just be more obvious and will hasten the Iranian regime's demise. The global threat to U.S. persons isn't going to change. If anything, Iran's capacity to direct terror attacks against U.S. people and interests will just collapse even faster than is already happening due to their losses from Israeli direct action against the IRGC and intelligence organs. But, do feel free to shelter in place in your back yard bunker, for fear that the long arm of Iranian vengeance is going to reach out for you. The rest of us see Iran as the Black Knight, armless and legless, but for now claiming "tis but a scratch!". I’m not so concerned about my safety, it’s all the money we spend on this nonsense that really irks me. |
As a former diplomat, I think this is a wildly overoptimistic take. |
| I would think the risk would be more so of targeted attacks vs warfare? Esp if the US joins Israel? Are you concerned about extremists targeting tourists OP? |
| I would cancel. I mean, planes are falling out of the skies, people are rioting everywhere, Bird Flu is prevalent, and there will be all out war across the world... |
You mean like the National Park Panic '25? |
Haven’t you seen the news? Are you aware of the larger implications? |
The economy at the moment is fine. But who knows. WW3 is a different issue. Who would be fighting in such a war? Iran is not even Iraq of 2003. At best it is a regional war although that is doubtful. Who will back Iran? China will not go to war for Iran. Neither will Russia but Russia is such a minor power now there is little they could do. |
The take is the risk is always bad for Americans. Not sure how that could be wrong. |
For what? |
Look up the 1980s. Achille Lauro. Lockerbie. Etc. All driven by chaos in the Middle East and North Africa. |
Former diplomat poster above. That's exactly what went through my mind. Rome airport too - I knew a flight attendant who was there. It wouldn't stop me from traveling on OP's plan, but terrorism increases in these situations, yes. |
I would absolutely cancel. |
Agree. Though I think this is one poster. They have been at it for years in DCUM and seem to thrive on cosplaying high society and talking down to posters. |
| I would still go in the next few weeks. It will get worse later. |
