Tell us more about this. Where is it happening? What US citizens have been arrested by the US military? Fill us in on the details. |
I'm going to answer this as though you are sincere, in the hopes of honest dialogue. No one is saying that TPS or humanitarian parole (a term for people facing urgent humanitarian crises in their home country) should be permanent. But we SHOULD have a process for determining when TPS or parole status ends. For TPS, this is typically done by "terms." So right now, for example the end date for TPS status for Haitians is August 3. If a Haitian has registered for TPS, and followed the law, they should be able to stay through that time based on current law and long-time practice. If Trump wants them gone, all he has to do is let TPS run out, at which point folks registered under TPS will either leave or essentially become illegal and subject to deportation. For humanitarian parole, you have cases like that 4 year-old in California who is receiving specialized medical care in the United States. Her family has status. USCIS tried to revoke their status, and only a public outcry made them reverse course, but she would have died if sent back home. But under Trump, what's happening is that folks who are here legally under TPS or humanitarian parole are being kidnapped off the street and thrown into for-profit prisons. Often, they are arrested when they show up for regularly scheduled check-ins where they demonstrate they are still in compliance with their legal status. They are here legally. They have status. But Trump has given USCIS a mandate to arrest X number of immigrants (not illegal immigrants, immigrants) per day, and they can only easily reach that goal by grabbing folks who are in compliance with the law. The effect is families ripped apart, communities living in fear, and an explosion in the number of undocumented migrants because Trump is stripping away to the ability to remain legal. |
Somewhere between 10 and 20 million. ICE is arresting primarily illegal alien criminals - those who have committed additional crimes in the US. Many other illegal aliens are arrested as collateral arrests. Especially in sanctuary cities where they authorities refuse to work with ICE. When ICE has to go out on the streets and find the people whom they are targeting, anyone with them who is here illegally is also going to be arrested. |
Those that "fall out of legal status" are present illegally. They too can be deported. And, should be. |
I would like to see the source of your information. I want to see who estimated that 20 million people crossed the border illegally. Also, you're ok with people being collateral damage of ICE just because they happen to be at the wrong place when ICE decides to show up? |

The narrative you're trying to spin is quite disgusting. 1) You're trying to say that dems are advocating for violent criminals and sexual offenders to roam free. THAT IS FALSE 2) You're saying that every immigrant is a violent criminal. THAT IS ALSO FALSE This is why people are protesting. |
in the lead-up to the Holocaust, there was a German paper called Der Sturmer, which amongst other vile tactics, published exclusively crimes committed by Jews. That's pretty much what this Xitter account is. |
MAGA = Nazi in my mind. |
ICE has recently arrested US citizens. Do you not read the news? (And no, Fox does not count as news). |
The “rules” are archaic. Both parties have agreed at various points that some sort of reform is needed, but certain wealthy politicians continuously upend attempts to fix things because the reality is they don’t simply want immigrants to “follow the rules.” They actually don’t want them to be here at all. Not to mention many people who have been trying to follow “the rules” are being deported anyway. We have asylum seekers who filled out their info. having the rug pulled out from under them. People appearing for appointments with immigration officials trying to get paperwork sorted being nabbed. When I was younger and less educated and lived in a red state bubble I had a lot of similar sentiment about how if you want to come to the U.S. then you should follow the law. But now that I’m older and have gone to law school and have met people from various backgrounds, I’ve realized how incredibly rigged the system is. It’s not like most immigrants *want* to be undocumented. I’m also appalled meanwhile that when our president, one of the richest and most powerful men in the world, violates due process the republicans try to write it off as an oopsie paperwork issue. But God forbid some poor immigrant fail to follow a complex, outdated system to perfection, then their punishment is banishment possibly to a prison in some country they’ve never been to that violates human rights. I keep waiting for the entirety of our country to wake up to the fact that our systems are built to benefit the wealthy and privileged. The angry rhetoric about immigrants “taking from the taxpayer” is to distract from the real scams being pulled by the rich and powerful. Also have you ever noticed we’re told we shouldn’t be helping immigrants because we need to “help our own.” But then despite all these deportations, we are not helping our own. If anything we’re cutting veterans benefits and making safety nets like SS, SNAP, etc. harder to access. But Drumpf and co are hoping if they scare everyone enough about brown people from other countries, we won’t fight back against the ruling class. |

Losers use whaddaboutism
ICE arrested citizens "by mistake" You defend child rapists! --does not refute original statement Trump is unfit. But what about Biden and the autopen coverup! --that if anything was then. Trump is now. Doesn't negate the now |
And yet … they aren’t proposing to spend any money on schools and citizens (unless you count tax breaks for the rich). 🤔 |
I agree with everything you said (except that I didn't become a lawyer, I just grew up and met people outside of my bubble). |
They don't even have warrants or names! Think of it. If you go to arrest one person working at a restaurant - how would you ever know the status of anyone else working there? You don't. But you sweep them up anyway, because they 'could be' and without due process, you'll never know and they are taken from their homes, families, livelihoods. I don't want to hear any of your MAGAs upset when the U.S. born children of these men and turn to crime to help support their families. You can't expect people to just sit there and die because of your racism. One thing about the immigrant culture - they work, they will hustle and they will make a way. Most Americans don't have that GRIT. |
