Stone mill here as well, we fare pretty well with these options.

Not sure which part of Stone Mill you live in, it seems like number 2 is the best option for the old neighborhood.

Yes, option 2 is the best option. Next is 4.

It may work well for you, but with so many split articulations, they are very bad options. Continuing to have their good friends in the same school is helpful for adolescents' well-being, I believe.

Option 2 and 4 good for stone mill

It’s not just about one school.. 2 and 4 send kids to different MS and HS, that’s just too crazy

That’s why there are people who like option 2 and 4

All these opposite options just create fights between neighborhoods

Option 4 seems crazy for Hoover. One ES to Churchill and the other five to Wooten? What’s the point of that?

Have you seen what they are doing with CJMS today? They are bussing hundreds of kids past Hoover. They are trying to pick the least bad option.

Not for the Stone Mill kids. Option 2 and 4 goes to Wootton. Option 2 is to Frost, which makes more sense than Cabin John. Option 4 is to Hoover.

Option 2&3 split Neelsville into 4 high schools. And it creates many middle schools split into 2 or more. It’s already a headache to coordinate a split articulation across 2 high schools, let alone 3 or 4. High schools and middle schools have a hell of a time coordinating calendars now…

?? Most of the schools in that option go to frost not cabin John so not sure this would give CJ the relief you think it would.

again, it’s not for stone mill kids.

Split articulation is without a doubt a terrible thing. In the present, we know it creates bullying situations. For example, at CJMS, there is a clear negative situation where Churchill-bound students bully the Wootton-bound students. Creating this for MORE high schools will only make it much worse. In addition, splitting kids apart to join a new group only to split them back off again to join another group (Option 2 does that) will significantly impact cohort cohesion. The students won't make strong bonds. After-school activities and extracurriculars will be impacted because teams will be split anyway. This is just bad

Which supergenius put the area of CLARKSBURG that is within BIKING distance of Hallie Wells in NEELSVILLE??? Option 2 was generated by:
A: A 6-month-old who got access to crayons and drew all over a nice map
B: ChatGPT's budget version, TalkAI
C: Someone under the influence of every drug in existence.
D: All of the above.

Yes, this!!

It seems particularly terrible for shy/introverted kids who might form and keep a small group of friends if they've been together long enough but who might not stand much of a chance if they have to start over with mostly new kids after elementary and/or middle school (starting over for both middle and high school is particularly brutal). With all the mental health challenges kids and teens face, social connections seem really important and split articulation makes forming and keeping those connections more difficult.

Option 2 wants to send the Ritchie Park surrounding area to Cabin John MS and then back to Richard Montgomery while sending the Fallsgrove-area Ritchie Park kids to Frost MS and then Crown. Bizarre.

RCES has two options going to QO, one option to Crown, one option to... GAITHERSBURG!

I don't understand why RCES would go to Gaithersburg HS, when you literally have to drive past Crown HS to get there!

Both option 2 and 4 are so bizarre which I doubt they’re serious options

From what I can tell, my neighborhood, Potomac Glen (Deerbrook Dr) is the same in all 4 options- Hoover, then Wooton. Is this correct? If so, this means they are changing articulation in all 4 options as we are currently Hoover to Churchill.

When will we learn of elementary school changes?
