Plan to. Thanks, sweetie. |

ATS is successful because of the immigrant families there. They want homework and good behavior. They show up to school on the first day with flowers for the teachers and dress to the nines for every event. They expect their kids to be successful.
|
Which immigrants |
Ethiopian, Eritrean, Mongolian, Bolivian, El Salvadoran... |
| Mostly Mongolian. There are more Asians at ATS as a percentage than at any other APS school. |
More Chinese students as well |
Innovation will turn higher farms with the new giant Marbella tower opening in the fall. They should be Title I before ATS. |
| No one ever wins in the who’s most oppressed Olympics. |
| Wish we could pin this thread. See what happens in the 5 years following ATS turning Title 1. 😆 |
|
I'm conflicted: I'm very wealthy and my kid made the K lottery for this year and I love that ATS is so in demand and held in high esteem and I can sort of brag we made it but
On the other hand, since they are now title 1, I'm terrified my child will be in the same school and classroom as poor brown children. |
Yes they will. If you are wealthy, send them to private. |
Actually, that’s not quite correct. ATS is unique for Arlington in that it has a very small (~10%) contingent of Hispanic students (made up from many different countries, not just one or two), and 30% Asian population. That’s the largest percentage Asian of any school in Arlington, as far as I know. And yes, all are very motivated, across all ethnic backgrounds. |
| Ooooooh people are gonna be mad if ATS gets extra Title 1 money and the other impoverished schools don’t. |
Looks like 20% black too. Double the percent for all elementary schools. |
Doesn’t sound like they need title I dollars. |
