At 5'0"? is that height a typo? Not being snarky at all. But I'm 5'8", 142 lbs, and wear a 4/6. Seems odd to be so much taller but wear the same size? (I don't know my measurements exactly, but yours read like you might have more hips. Waist looks about right for me as well)

I am 5’8 and 142 at the moment and wear a size 12 bottoms (big hips). The PP seems like an outlier perhaps they are into bodybuilding.

I'm 5'8 and 135-140 lbs. I wear a 4, sometimes a 6. I do workout but nothing extreme- I hike /walk an hour ish a day and lift 3-4 days a week

I’m 5’8 and 132 and I wear a 6-8. Funny how different it can be.

And I’m 5’8” and 135-140 and most often wear a 2. I have minimal curves and a long torso (32b, 27, 32). This little sidebar conversation surprises me—how do we vary in clothing size so much?

I love hearing different sizes.

I am 5’3 145-150 shaped like this and I fit a 4/6. Waist 26, 28 typically is too loose.

I do t believe Jlo is a size 10. She looks like a 0 or 2 to me. Have you seen her latest video with the heart midriff cut out wedding dress (so or her on a boat in an all white tank bathing suit? Google the latter. The one w the wedding dress was was like what the hell?

JLo is very small in person. She might be buying like, Dolce and Gabbana size 6s and size 8s (which are like everyone else's 4) and then getting them tailored and taken in even more to fit her tiny midsection.

Most of these celebrities who are known for their curves like JLo and Beyonce are not a straight off the rack size. They are either wearing clothing custom made for them or they are buying ready to wear designer clothing that is too large for them in some places and getting it taken it by a tailor at least one size to fit their small midsections.

Good point.

It is, but that girl is like 22. These measurements look different when you are 42.

Christina Hendricks is easily a 14. J Lo is a 2. Kate Winslet might be the only one who is size 8 on your list.

Christina Hendricks is probably a 6 or 8. She just looks big compared to all the size 0 and 2 she's put next to.

She is bigger than a 6. She's probably an 8 in the first season of Mad Men, when she was the slimmest.

5’2 1/2 op here

Googled 5 2 celebs and here are a few that stood out to me as possibly in the size 8-10 range
Patricia Arquette—she looks great as Harmony Cobel in Severance
Lady Gaga—her style has been more classic lately
Christina Aguilera
Nicola Coughlin

Demi Lovato
America Ferrera
Camila Mendes

There is no way Lady Gaga is a size 8 or 10.

It's hard to compare bodies and sizes.

I am 5'9" and was a size 8-10 when I weighed 130 pounds. I have wide hips, wide shoulders, and a big rib cage, so I wore a "bigger size" to accommodate my frame.

Now, at 150 pounds, I am a size 12-14, and some size 14 clothes are still too snug, so i have to go up to a 16.

If someone with a different frame weighs the same as me, they might be a size 6-10 rather than a 12-16. Different bodies carry weight differently.

Actors are much thinner and smaller than you might think because the camera adds pounds and short people look better on film. Really tall people are an exception and often look hunched over on film. They all look different in person.

You also have to understand that a lot of these actresses fluctuate in weight and size quite a bit. If you are just looking at them at awards shows like the Oscars or at film premieres, that is almost always them at their thinnest and fittest because those events are planned far in advance, they know they will be wearing designer evening wear (which skews small and the designers want the actresses as small possible in most cases), and they know they will be photographed extensively. This is like comparing your body exclusively to what women look like on their wedding day. It's way to specific to be "inspiration" for how you dress day to day.

But then if you look at their "street style" you might be uninspired. Actresses often wear really basic, not necessarily super flattering clothes in their everyday lives. Jeans and t-shirts. Often oversized clothes. I am sure it's a reaction to having a job that requires you to constantly wear costumes and evening gowns and spend hours in hair in makeup and have people scrutinizing your appearance on camera all the time. But if you are looking for a cute every day style, actresses are often not your best bet.

That's why a lot of people like the "regular person" fashion influencers online. They may not be as beautiful as most actresses, but their outfits are generally more like what most of us wear every day. They also tend to buy mall brands or from websites that are accessible to normals, whereas actresses are often wearing clothes that the average person can't buy.

Thanks, PP. I assume you were the one to write the first reply about the three actresses. I enjoy reading your reasoned explanations.

This is an interesting conversation if we can put aside the mean girling. I’m a size 8 (well, a 6 in the brands that do vanity sizing) and my celeb twin is Elisabeth Moss. I’m 5’4” and 133 lbs, short-waisted with wide hips. When I was younger (and pre-kids) I was more like a 4-6 at about the same weight but middle age and a couple of pregnancies shifts things around no matter what.
