Not necessarily. The NOMA Metro station is fairly new. |
Seems like MD's republican congressional reps are trying to block DC's ability to use its own funds to lure the Commanders. Just heard an interview with Andy Harris talking about how DC shouldn't be able to have the billion dollars currently blocked from use to fund a stadium |
I wonder how the construction of the stadium to alter traffic- related old be curious to know how they plan to handle a major construction project in such a high traffic area. |
If they're against it then can we get rid of the bike lanes, "attainable" housing, and undersized parking requirements? The gall of them both is incomprehensible. Hundreds of millions are already being spent on their pet projects as a sweetener. |
Of course you are. That way you get to reap the rewards of monopoly pricing and have the state enforce your monopoly. |
What are you talking about? I don't get the rewards from monopoly pricing, and I don't have any hold on the monopoly there. I live clear across the city from the stadium. But I don't really care how much they charge to park — if it's $50, I'll probably take Metro to attend games there. |
Why would he do this? It really doesn’t make sense, if he wants to cut federal spending, he should be supportive of the DC metro area diversifying its economy . Where are his constituents going to work lol? It seems like he wants people to be unemployed. |
Because he doesn't want a useless stadium that isn't subsidized by the football team. Even though it's only 8 or so days a year, those days are very profitable. The naming rights become worthless ane you can't sell ads in a stadium no one visits. It will turn into another USAir Arena. Two failed commercial redevelopments so far. |
Hahaha, lol. Andy Harris doesn't care about PGC either. He's just an ahole that hates DC. He's the Ted Cruz of the tea party. This isn't his first rodeo. |
I believe the Commanders are actually on the hook to redevelop FedEx Field if they move, too. Maryland should hold them to that. |
For the the first time ever, I agree with Andy Harris: D.C. should not use this particular billion dollars to fund a stadium. But that's because we should be able to use those billion dollars to fund the operating expenses they were budgeted to cover. I'd also prefer if D.C. spent $0 to fund a stadium — I think the Commanders' owners are quite capable of paying the full cost themselves — but I doubt Andy Harris agrees with me on that as a general principal. |
That’s my recollection as well. It’s not just going to stay there as an empty hulk. |
LOL it's going to be more than $50/spot on game day. These garages will be such a mess, guarantee it will be a 2+ hour wait to exit the garages on game day. It's one road in & out. Good luck suburbanites too scared to take the Metro! |
Josh Harris is paying the full cost of building the stadium. DC on the other hand is paying the cost to develop the surrounding land, including DPR facilities, bike lanes and infrastructure for the new housing. Heck, the Anacostia trail expenses in the current budget are part of the deal. What line item costs in the current proposal do you think DC should not pay? We're not paying anything for construction of the stadium itself. That $1 billion is for the "attainable" housing, park facilities and "multi-modal" transportation. |
Declare bankruptcy and form a new owners group. GM did it. |
