I knew a family whose daughter was openly racist and at the time I thought the parents were so nics. As I got to know them better they became openly racist in front of me. I have a very WASPy name and look white. I'm Hispanic and have no accent in English or Spanish. I was so insulted when the dad said something to the effect of "all the Mexicans steal. It's part of Hispanic culture". I don't talk to them anymore. I know why their daughter is a racist- her parents are.

Well I know nice kids with A hole parents so you know...

People are people - it's hard to predict. Esp when a kid is like 14 or 15 - they are their own person. You can have great parents and terrible kids and terrible parents and successful awesome kids. My parents suck but by all accounts I am very different from my parents. I try really hard with my kids but my younger one has such an edge I can't believe it

Sometimes, you just have to get lucky with finding the right families that are stable
