Also, coming out of the Great Financial Crisis, Middlebury had some financial issues. Subsequently, it couldn’t compete as aggressively with other schools on financial aid and other investments.

Where is Davidson top-ranked from this group?

If you use SAT medians as a proxy Davidson is in the middle with Wesleyan

Middlebury 1500 median
Wesleyan 1430 median
Davidson 1430 median
Denison 1370 median

Middlebury is a clear step above the others but they are all great schools and I would choose solely based on fit unless you were looking for Wall Street where Midd is one of the strongest SLACs probably second to Williams and closing.

I thought test scores were meaningless...

Not sure who said that but why are you bringing in inane and unrelated comment into the thread? Are you compensating for some deficiency? Or are you just a vapid little troll? Either way it has been well established on this thread that people see all four of these schools for what they are; outstanding schools.

It has been said repeatedly on this forum, and I'm not a troll. Was a French major who seriously considered Middlebury.

Davidson is the highest ranked of these four schools on USNWR and WSJ, to name a few. The WSJ ranks Davidson 10 overall amongst both national universities and LACs.

Davidson has worse academic and career outcomes than Middlebury.

Middlebury’s most recent common data set is VERY incomplete and they report a very low percent of admits reporting scores. In other words, the score range cited above is highly skewed and unrepresentative of the student body. If you look at pre-COVID common data sets, Middlebury’s median was 1420.

None of this is true.

Indeed, Middlebury suffered significantly after the GFC: https://money.cnn.com/2009/04/10/news/economy/levenson_college.fortune/index.htm

The poster who can’t accept Middlebury’s true status relative to these other schools clearly has bias. The facts are not on their side. Middlebury, like all these schools, is great, but why be an a$$ when the facts don’t support you?

Based on what?

Grad school feeder rankings, and the amount of students going into top financial firms.

Anyone have a Forbes account? I’m wondering what the latest financial grades are for these colleges.

Makes sense. Quite a few full pay white kids from wealthy families go there.

Do you know the CDS that was used? It’s not the one cited. Do you know the pct submitting scores relative to the others. I’m guessing that you don’t or you wouldn’t be barking. Do a bit of work before you lip off. Otherwise it will get smacked right back.

I will save you the work. Of all of these schools only one has a higher test rate than the others. That one is Wes. The others are similar but Midd is higher.

Note that Davidson shares a U.S. News spot with Wesleyan, at #14.

In an example of another ranking, Middlebury places most highly from this group:

Cause the “facts” do not support the anonymous troll who appears on every Midd thread to put them down. It’s obvious that their child was rejected and that they are suffering from MDS.

Thanks, that was a fun history lesson but not at all pertinent to the moment. Although I do agree that the decision to purchase MIIS was strange and poorly thought out.
