Denison vs Wesleyan vs Davidson vs Middlebury

All four are great schools. Visit them and see what you think. As for “prestige” - is kind of depends on where you are. Chicago, Cleveland or Columbus - it’s Denison. NYC - Wes or Mid. Charlotte - Davidson. Luck to go to any one of them.

This analysis assigned Middlebury a Career Outcomes Rank of #124, when compared among colleges and universities nationally:

Never, and I mean never use wallet hub as a source for anything.

It doesn't even have most mainstream schools listed.

Could you explain what you mean by this? The WalletHub site lists the top 500 schools of the 822 it considered. With respect to a few schools that would have made the top 500, it notes that insufficient data was available.

Any of them would be fantastic. With these id pick based on feel and fit.

Good luck with the choice.

I know some pre-Trump moderate Republicans who were very happy at Middlebury. They are less likely to fit in at Wesleyan.

Overall, I think Denison is a notch below the other three, but if your child visits and loves it, they aren't going wrong by going there.

Not to hijack but Can you explain what you mean about Oberlin’s vibe more?

My household is still laughing about the DCUM poster of years past who referred to Wesleyan, Oberlin, and Vassar as the “Harvard-Yale-Princeton of wokeness.”

Oberlin has been way out weirdly liberal since the 60's.

+1 Middlebury is also situated in a very non-diverse state. Of course, that's what some students want.

Not sure why they're not more inclusive of African American students.

In a recent year for which information is available, Middlebury accepted African American applicants at a rate of 31.5%, and African Americans represented 11.2% of Middlebury's enrolled students:

They really really want to be but Black students don’t want to go school in the whitest state in the US that’s in the middle of nowhere (I am an alum).

Why am I the only one who automatically thought, two of these are at opposite extremes, so it looks like this:

Middlebury

Davidson
Wesleyan

Denison

Right? I mean Denison isn't remotely in the same league as Middlebury.

I don’t know. I think I Denison and Middlebury are pretty similar. More alike than not alike. In my opinion, I think Denison may be the better school (I have no connection to the school). But both are good.

All four are similarly excellent. One is not better than the other in terms of academics and prestige. Go where you think you will have the most fun.

All are good. Middlebury and Wes are classic NESCACs. Denison and Davidson are more up and comers but I think they are in the same class now with Middlebury and Wes.

All are fantastic. Very fortunate if any one of these schools is on your list of accepted schools. Congrats.
