Not in DMV. Check your own schools stats. Talk to older parents. What works at my school may not work at yours.

Sure, they take the bottom third from your private and from the top third at dmv schools. I’m sure that’s true and you aren’t a troll. Same for the BC info, clearly false.

Op you got some helpful advice from some posters but not this one.

BC much harder than Wake ED0 at our non-DMV private.

It’s such a self own to admit your kids school sends top third students to Wake.

You sound like a truly lovely person with no issues you need to work through. Bless your heart.

+1 I have a top (possibly actual top and if not top 5 in their school) kid with mid 1500s going to a school similar to wake because of merit and, more importantly, that’s where they wanted to go.

Should’ve saved for Duke or Vanderbilt.

Dp and you are literally the worst. People probably run to avoid you when they see you irl.

Being DCUM, surely our children are all above average.

They don’t. I’m fun and good looking and rich.

What’s the attraction of Wake and BC? Don’t see them as overlaps with Wake being more non-Catholic and BC the reverse.

I am not asking for advice, just for info. My kid likes his current list, and if a lot of them are safeties that just means he will have more choices and possibly more merit aid.

It does sound as though he is aiming lower than other people in the same boat.

They are schools decent but not outstanding students can get into that sound respectable enough to most people.

Unicon size, small classes (especially at Wake), good ACC sports, social kids.

They feel very similar when you visit. Preppy, mostly white, not quirky but smart kids who are serious about academics. My kids (junior and senior) liked the feel of each but ended up applying elsewhere for a variety of reasons.

Both medium sized and preppier than average with pretty campuses.

Like SMU but not as good athletics.

Imagine paying $45-50k a year for private high school and your kids end up attending these mediocre no-name colleges, lmao.

Kid is truly in the middle of the class in most ways. Mix of honors and on level classes, highest math is AP Stats (no calculus). UW GPA and test scores around the 50th %ile for the class. Good EC's but nothing amazing.

Avg Private School Kid end up at an average State School.

I’m honking JMU, UMBC, Towson, Delaware

At our school, average kids could go to places like Wisconsin/Illinois/Purdue, Tulane/BU/NYU (only if ED), and Denison/Oberlin/Lafayette. Not in DC area.
