There are multiple. And it only began when people categorically denied median students are competitive applicants to BC, despite all evidence to the contrary. |
It’s not about the college results. You obviously don’t get it, so stop trolling the private school board. |
Please find something else to do. |
Name one falsehood. |
My kid maxed out at Pre-Calc and got in an Ivy. Unhooked…. |
And yet they said that’s impossible at BC and you’d need to be a legacy. |
No one said it was impossible, just that it was unlikely. |
“You can definitely get into BC unhooked without calc and a SAT below 1500. It’s not that competitive.” “Acceptance rate was 16 percent LAST cycle. This might be possible for a legacy but not unhooked.” They said this scenario was impossible. Don’t backtrack the obsession with BC being prestigious. |
Happy for your kid, but that was very unusual for a kid without some kind of hook. Nothing is impossible, but one has to think what is reasonably likely when making college app decisions. |
| The poster said non big 3 and no calculus. So think about a kid graduating from st Andrews, field or holy child, without calculus in the middle of the class - that type of student is not ending up at BC, tufts or wake even with ED full pay. Be realistic. These kids end up at great schools, but not top 50 university or top 25 SLAC. Focus on fit, ED and if being full pay can give the kid a bump. I’ve seen similar kids apply and get into well known colleges like Syracuse, college of Charleston, etc. |
he scored 1560 one seating in the SAT |

Baltimore private school
3.6UW, 3.7W No AP’s until senior year TO Microbiology major which is one of the top schools for this major in the country (wants to be an orthodontist) UW Madison OOS I am very proud of my daughter. Obviously not shooting for the ivies, but this school truly used a holistic approach. Her why Wisconsin essay was actually mentioned in her admissions letter. There is more to a child than gpa and test scores. Apply wherever, you may actually be surprised. |
ED acceptance rate 30%. |
Spent an avg of $35k per year for 12 years for kid to end up at Alabama…..it is what it is….we provided the tools and she chose Alabama….oh well. |
Yea but pre-calc and a 1490 would never get you there unless you have a hook!
