And this morning I watched a driver speed through a stone-cold red light - not one that had just turned from yellow - with cross traffic. I looked up the plate later and was surprised that the car had only a few hundred dollars in unpaid traffic fines. What is your point? |

You really need to get a grip. Educating people about cleaner and more efficient ways of getting around their city does not constitute the “demonization” of those who use a vehicle to go the hospital. |
DP: There is over $200 million for bike lanes, trails, bridges and overpasses in the current Capital Improvements Plan alone. https://cfo.dc.gov/page/annual-operating-budget-and-capital-plan |
Stop lying. |
I infer that, because you are posting about this specific act, that this happen to you. I will further infer that this act was triggered by you driving in a manner that endangered the welfare of the cyclist. I will yet further infer from the rest of your message that your dangerous driving is predicated on notions of innate superiority and a callous disregard for the lives of other road users. I encourage you to either stop driving or seek psychological help for your personality disorder before you commit something more serious than making a stupid post on an anonymous forum. |
No. We went over this in the thread about the CR and the DC budget. The real figure is $32 million or something. |
You made my day! Thanks! |
No we didn't and no it isn't. Why are you lying about something so straight forward and easily verifiable? There is over $200 million for bicycle lanes, trails, bridges, and overpasses. If we include bike lanes masquerading as traffic safety measures it goes up to $250 million. Read the document yourself. The Long Bridge is a bike bridge. The MBT is a bike trail. The overpass at Anacostia Metro is a bike overpass. Etc etc |
Why do you think it's a lie? Because the number is so large and spending that much would be insane? Read it yourself. It's not hidden. |
You are proving the point. You have to be pretty entitled to think you have the right to scream at a stranger and pound on their car because they did something that you don't approve of. You also have to be pretty stupid. There are lots of people in this world who are in prison and lots of people who are dead because someone felt disrespected. |
I'm sure the cops were all over this... https://www.reddit.com/r/washingtondc/comments/1jfuip5/seems_safe/?rdt=58492 |
I really don’t know why you’re stopping there. Cyclists can legally ride on the sidewalk outside the CBD and so all sidewalk construction and maintenance should be included as well. Heck, why not also include road maintenance costs for the entire district since some of those roads have bike lanes on them? |
The bike bros need to be doged. So much waste for so few. |
I guess you’ve never been in a situation where someone - whether inadvertently or deliberately - almost killed you. Good for you. |
Maybe if you count the tourists on the bike tours. But the bike lanes around the city are empty. |
