That bikelane was added to troll self important shitheads who live in Kent and palisades

It would be higher if people didn't leave their trashcans in it and if delivery folks used the legal parking areas rather than the bike lanes.

Bikers don’t like hills

No one will ever use that bike trail. It is another example of how profoundly stupid the council of DC is. This entire group of people have never accomplished anything of note in their lives even before they joined the council and started to destroy the city.

I drive it 2ce a day m-f and have never seen a biker.

I’ve never seen a biker. I bet the people on MacArthur are pissed With all the backed up traffic though.

No bikers but they need better signs/indicators on canal when lanes/traffic flows change. I’ve seen too many close call head on collisions recently.

it seems to have been very poorly thought out, between the lack of usage, the confiscation of residents' parking spots, and the poor flows regardless that lead to safety issues

Sounds like this is one of the most widely used bike lanes in the city.

“Confiscation of residents’ parking spots?”

Entitled much?

I’m sorry to have to break the news, but those residents do not own the road space adjacent to their abodes and they have no established right to a parking space.

Moreover, every house on those blocks has a driveway and there is ample space on the other side of the street for parking.

Invoking all manner of hyperbole to drawn attention to your own sense of victimization works a lot better if you develop some real problems first.

The Arizona Ave bike lane is intended to function to feed in to the Capital Crescent Trail. The problem is that the spur connecting the bike lane to the Trail has not yet been built. It’s a shame that the two projects were not better coordinated but I would expect usage to increase considerably once the connector is built.

The claims about the bike lane contributing to safety hazards are overstated. I drive through that intersection on a daily basis and it’s no worse now than it ever once. The safety hazards there, as is the case everywhere, are caused by those drivers who speed, run red lights, and make left turns in front of oncoming traffic.

We just drove it yesterday and were commenting on taking up the road with a two way bike lane with no bikes. The white barrier poles make the turn from Loughboro difficult with cars coming the other way.

We’re having one of the coldest Februarys in years. It’s hardly surprising that many people who would bike are finding other ways to get around at the moment.
