Who'd a thunk it, a Langley propaganda hour lasted 50 years. ![]() |
I enjoyed it for the sake of seeing a lot of people I haven’t seen for a while, but it was indisputably pretty uneven. |
It’s unclear. He’s been tweeting his support of the event, though. |
That would have been great. |
I thought it was great seeing all of those people together celebrating 50 years. And they mostly stayed away from politics except for Colin Jost's quick quip. They may have figured people are so tired of Trump. Do MAGAs watch SNL? |
Umm, the opening monologue made a Trump gulf of America joke. And Tom hanks played a dumb maga character in one of the first skits - jeopardy. |
DP. They didn’t mention his name, though. Which drives him crazy. |
He's played that character a couple of times before so it wasn't really about the current political situation. |
Was there any run ins with RR/BL and Scarlett/Colin. Weird that RR/BL was at Colin's work? |
I agree with an earlier poster who said Miley was not good singing Sinead. It was bugging me so much. I think Miley is a decent singer, but that song is just not in her range.
I was trying to think of a current singer who would have been a better choice. I like the other poster’s suggestion of Pink-that might be interesting. |
Billie Eilish could have handled that song. |
Damn. Missed opportunity for sure! |
Ryan Reynolds has popped up at the Update desk in recent years alongside Colin. |
hmm, that's another interesting suggestion. |
He’s popped up once on Update. He’s hosted once, 17 years ago, and Blake hosted that same year. 2009 before they were together. Why they let him speak at the 50th, I’ll never understand. I get why they were invited, there were a few other folks who have only hosted one time that were in the audience such a Dan Levy. But the speaking roles should’ve gone to a former cast member or another good friend of the show. Justin Timberlake, as much as I don’t like him, at least would’ve made sense - he’s hosted I believe five times and been a musical guest several times and had several appearances on the show. He’s clearly a friend to the show. I just don’t understand why Ryan, who has virtually no connection to the show, was given a joke. And a bad joke too, in an otherwise very fun scene. It seemed very last minute and forced as if SNL owed their agent a favor. |
