Interesting. Carbonation doesn’t agree with me so I never order soda but not for those reasons. I stick to water and/or wine. However as a fed household we are reigning in discretionary spending like dining out for the time being. |
As a fed household that is undoubtedly highly educated, you should rein in spending, not rule over it. |
True. Lots of trumpers in construction. We are also holding off on a major project. Might never get done at this point. |
Unfortunately, my digestive system can't handle soda either, which is why I usually order water. But we are having to tighten our belts and save money, so won't be doing any dining out or carry out for the foreseeable future. I feel badly for the local restaurant owners. |
We've cancelled all plans to do any work to our house or yard. Also stopping all eating out of any sort, to try to save an emergency fund. Private industry staff in the DC area will have to step up to save the restaurants. |
So what. I only drink water because Soda is garbage. I am supposed to buy soda and pour it out for our lost hommies in the Federal Government that got canned or something? Where do people come up with this performative nonsense. |
Have you shared this plan with your real-life friends OP? Do they support it? |
So many people did this during COVID and inflation to save money. Didn't seem to have an impact. |
It had a positive impact on my own bank balance. |
| No. I went all in to help restaurants during the pandemic. Not this time. Isn’t everyone supposed to pick themselves up by their own bootstraps? |
| No restaurants, unnecessary spending, or home improvements. |
|
No..
I want mass business closures so the economic pain inflicted is max. I will be severely curtailing consumption due to price increases. |
It’s not bootstraps, but during Covid I was a government employee who got paid so I made sure to do my part. This time I could be fired or at least have to make it through a long shutdown with no payback, so no. |

People are compiling lists of MAGA ones
I plan to avoid those and support local ones I know are not maga |
Private industries are seeing cuts too. Its no one's responsibility but the owner's to save their restaurants. If they price themselves out of the market that's on them. We cut back as the prices went up and quality went down. I'm not paying more than $20 for a meal for a sit down except a rare occasion out and I'm not spending $15-20 for fast food. |
