Totally different schools, both Catholic, with very different vibes, but my kid loved both and felt they’d be happy and successful. Marywood seemed very committed to service and kindness, and has a library we keep talking about. U of Scranton was compact, bustling, and the business program (kids area of interest) was impressive.

A friend of mine is a professor at Marywood. She is fantastic and her students seem happy.

We visited a York (PA) College open house years ago when first starting visits with my oldest and the President of the college walked around the food hall greeting families personally, which was such a nice experience for us.

Her husband was also there and sat down at our table chatting with us, and asking our son questions about his intended major, what he’s looking for in a school, etc. It was lovely.

When we toured Davidson, the campus had a very happy, social vibe. Our tour guide seemed to know everyone who passed by our tour group!

Also love that they have a full ride History scholarship. [/quote

Gburg alum here, and this post made me smile! Thank you! Those cookies are, indeed, amazing. Thanks, OP, for starting this thread - the positivity is welcome.

I have never met a Pitt student who wasn't happy with Pitt. I've met many Pitt students.

Truth is I tried to nudge my kid toward Pitt above other higher ranked schools. They chose otherwise, but I am impressed by the culture there.

As a current parent, I can confirm that Davidson is a very happy, social place. My student absolutely loves it! Fantastic classes w amazing profs, lots of fun social opportunities, a super charming town and an all-around great group of students on campus. It's an idyllic place for college!

Case Western sent a nice little swag package including some fun blue socks, bag, etc.

Plus the acceptance letter had a really nice personalized post script about DS’ personal interest. Was a really nice touch!

My daughter is at CMC and hearing her talk about her professors-how engaging and smart and encouraging they are really makes me feel like there are educators out there doing this because they love teaching and that she will learn so much in college.

I’m sure I’ll feel like an idiot and chalk it up to post-midnight brain lag, but what is CMC?

We were on vacation in Boulder last Spring when my DS was a HS junior. We toured the University of Colorado campus. Everyone we met was so nice--confident that DS would be happy, make friends, have fun, and get a great education. We saw a lot of quirky college students just doing their thing. The rec center was amazing-- DS goes to the gym to relieve stress and it would be wonderful to have access to all of that. It looked like a wonderful, well-rounded college experience that (currently) isn't hyper competitive to get into.
DS decided to apply and we should be hearing in a few weeks.

Mary Washington has the best open house of any we attended and we visited 25 colleges.

Washington College makes you feel like a MVP.

UDelaware’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources put on a fantastic program. I wish I had gone to school there after that tour.

UVM has such a vibrant feel. It is both laid back but with city energy that is hard to find.

UNH felt like a hidden gem or maybe it isn’t talked about in NoVA. I adored their school spirit and found their campus beautiful.

College of Wooster is so overlooked for everything it has on offer. I loved they have their own registered tartan and their football team is led in by bagpipes.

I'm so glad to hear this-- DS was accepted at Pitt and we couldn't be happier. He is not having luck breaking into the higher ranked schools so far--and we're fine with it because we've heard so many good things about Pitt.

Different poster: I loved Pitt and was nudging dd to go there. But they didn’t have specific program she was looking for. Pittsburgh is a great place to go to school.
Good luck with the rest of the process.
