Positivity

Totally different schools, both Catholic, with very different vibes, but my kid loved both and felt they’d be happy and successful. Marywood seemed very committed to service and kindness, and has a library we keep talking about. U of Scranton was compact, bustling, and the business program (kids area of interest) was impressive.

My family and I loved the Scranton tour.

My friend's daughter picked Scranton and is very happy there

Not a specific school but I’ve always found it incredible how much large universities can offer. Just an incredible range of majors, courses, clubs, social activities, facilities, etc. You could spend a decade in some of these places and never experience it all.

We were a little unsure how the UGA tour would go since it involved a campus shuttle, but the tour guides had great energy and ours made an effort to engage with each kid individually when walking between stops. That really left an impression. Also, the campus landscaping is beautiful.

I'll start: I love American University's campus. My DC doesn't go there but I was so thoroughly impressed by how beautiful it was that I still haven't forgotten it years later.

I agree about AU. During our tour, we were so impressed with the programs they offer. DD was accepted elsewhere (ED) but I would have loved for her to attend AU!

I have come to see that certain posters tear about a college and troll in different manners when:
1) their kid was rejected
2) they were rejected when they were in HS
3) a kid's nemesis got in
4) their nemesis' kid got in
5) jealousy

It's funny when you read schools in the top 10-20 with 3-5% acceptance rates labeled as 'safety' school. That's a tip off right there that this person has a personal agenda.

William & Mary is the most beautiful campus I've ever seen. I'd like to get a job in the Wellness Center just to hang out there.

Agree with this entirely. I feel like I'm watching my daughter evolve before my very eyes. And she still wants to spend time with me!

I think you're in the wrong thread. Do you have something positive to say?

Also loved AU and pleased to see my child getting really excited as we get closer to EA acceptance release day on the 23rd.

+2 and I learned so much about my kids during the process, especially working on essays with my doesn't-talk son.

My son and I had our first solo trip together in fall 2023 trying to squeeze in two Philly college visits in one day! Even raced downtown to see the Liberty Bell. Amazing memories!

I have continued to be so grateful I attended a large state U where I sampled a variety of classes/majors. It was empowering.

+3 - this process wasn't as much stressful as it was a chance to spend time with my son, whether doing college tours, talking about essays, laughing about DCUM or now considering what's ahead. It was unexpected bonding time that I am grateful for!

I love hearing my high-anxiety kid telling people she's excited for college.
