I'm not struggling as a parent. Good try. You don't support them, maybe a select few. Post the assignments online and grade them so parents can know and access the paper assigments so they can get done. Parents are trying and your way of doing things doesn't allow parents to support their kids. |
Some classes have textbooks that teachers give if you ask, they just choose not to use them. You are lucky if you had great teachers and support, as we haven't seen any support and a few great teachers, most are meh, some are just bad. You are lucky yours show up and teach. |
It varies by teacher, some are mainly paper and in class assignments, some are mixed, others online...mostly paper or mixed. |
As a teacher who works extremely hard, I resent your repeated attack on my profession. You have no idea what I do and what I give up to support my students. |
I’m not attacking the profession. I’m tired of teachers doing the absolute minimum and not communicating with parents and complaining about their students. We cannot help or deal with the situation if we don’t know and you don’t do your part. |
I say this as kindly as possible: I don’t think you have any idea what a teacher’s job is like. A teacher can put in a grueling 50 hours a week with no break and still not get the minimum met. Frankly, teachers are responsible for too much. I was that amazing teacher who communicated effectively and frequently. I was highly respected by the entire community. I then burned out and left because I was working 7 days a week to keep ahead. My family suffered and begged me to quit. So I did, but I haven’t forgotten the nonstop work. I have full respect for teachers because I know what they do behind the scenes. |

Look, if your kid has an IEP or a 504, the teacher should absolutely be reaching out when there is a ton of missing work. If they do have an IEP, you might consider reaching out to their case manager for help.
However, it doesn’t sound to me like the teacher is worried your kid is doing poorly. They’re allowing your child to turn in late work (I haven’t seen anything about it, so I’m assuming without penalty?). You can’t really ask for more than that. If the teacher is posting grades every two weeks, that’s really all their responsible for. This sounds much more like a parent not getting their way situation, than a kid in danger of failing situation. |
Hey bitter, angry parent, quit blaming teachers. You are breeding bitter, angry children. |
| This is why we cannot have good schools. Everyone is against teachers. Admin, parents, society, even teachers are putted against teachers to disrespect and talk down to them. It doesn't matter how many over time hours they make you work for free. |
| Every two weeks is considered the minimum, but longer is acceptable for projects or papers. |
|
My kid has EF issues but the reality is that you have to get it in on time the first time, or you don’t know when it will be marked. It’s a public school hazard. My kids teachers run the gamut. Some update regularly and some do not.
I work at a private school. So much fluff padded into the grades. It’s not authentic in its own way. |
Let me help you. Twice per week, not every two weeks, is the minimum requirement for entering grades. |
🙄 you are exhausting. Teachers, stop getting to justify anything to these nitwits. They won’t get it. Imagine if the tables were turned. Grading is complicated. If you can’t handle the timeline then talk to your therapy on how to manage your anxiety. |

I have no idea when the MCPS grading system is correct. I just looked, here an array of things going on:
- One classes states no missing assignment. Yet has zero for three assignments. I assume the teacher just hasn’t graded those but don’t understand why the grade is just not pending. Or if it’s missing why it isn’t reflected. - One class shows missing assignments of which each noted as missing has a grade. If you go in Canvas you can see these are paper assignments. So why is the assignment noted as missing? - One class has an assignment that is not due until January and in fact hasn’t even been given to students but yet the grade reflects 50%. Maybe if Admin set and enforced a standard grading timeline and way Canvas is supposed to operate families could spend less time focusing on this and more time focused on the class content. I won’t even get into the need for meaningful feedback and grading for excellence. |
Talk to your therapy..LOL. |
