It doesn’t look like they do anything differently than when I was in school academically. The biggest improvement in learning is computers.

If your school is working well for your family, that is great for you, but please understand that many schools, public or private, are not working well for many of their students. Part of the reason for that is that not enough is spent on actual teaching, while too much is spent on silly admin stuff that gets in the way of teaching.

I had some idea our local FCPS Administration was way over-staffed and has become a dumping ground for failed principals. But I had little idea how massive the the wasted $$ problem really is:

This is really shocking and needs to change at the local level.

One needs to vote for a different school board if one wants change. A good first step would be to get the respective political parties to put education-focused candidates on the school board ballots…I am not holding my breath.

Graph is intentionally misleading.

What's misleading about it, aside from the way the legend formatting is messed up?

Gut the admin. This is one that I agree with. Education is a corrupt mess that has ruined many students and teachers who got attacked by students and blamed by admin

Because the number of administrators is much, much smaller than the number of teachers, etc. Looking at the % increase makes it look like a much more significant increase than it was.

And in many districts certain functions - reading specialists, SN support, etc. - get categorized as part of the “administration”.

So without more data and details, it’s misleading.
