Important for the kids! Not for you. There was not a single missed swim at finals the entire weekend. So apparently, the people who NEEDED to know (coaches and swimmers) figured it out. |
Paying for an entry to a sporting event Paying to purchase clothing at a sporting event What part of this is unusual or considered nickel and diming |
Right, and whether the results are posted tomorrow or next Monday they will still have achieved the new time standard, etc. The foot stamping about it being important to know right now is weird. |
Next Monday ? https://youtu.be/Qw9oX-kZ_9k |

I appreciate all the hard work of the volunteers. However, I am perplexed by the Wi-Fi and technology issues, especially since George Mason is an affluent campus with a robust fiber network. Perhaps the facility should consider using Ethernet connectivity instead. Additionally, proper testing by the technical support team before the start of the meets would enhance the overall experience. It’s not always the WiFi. Our computers were updated by the school district with firewalls that prevent us from uploading to meet mobile. We have tried in vain to remove the software, but apparently there had been a porn incident (not swim team related) at the school that necessitated stricter firewalls. It’s really annoying, but IT has not found a solution yet. |

Hello Potomac Marlins,
I’ve noticed that some clubs through this thread , including Mako, York, and AAC, haven’t yet received the official results for the Winter Classic. It was helpful to see that the results for the Turkey Claus meet, although not yet posted on the PV website, were uploaded to SwimCloud from Mach. Could the Marlins please do the same for the Winter Classic results? Uploading them to SwimCloud could greatly assist in addressing the delays and ensuring that all participating families have timely access to the information they need. Here’s the link for reference: https://www.swimcloud.com/results/324939/?agegroup=ALL. Thank you for your cooperation |
Why are you doing this? The meet ended at 8:20 on Sunday night. Does your child not know their times? What will this help? This behavior seems obnoxious, self-important and insufferable. |
Actually I think theft clubs that host these meets make a lot of money- the splash and facilities fees cover the rentals. My swimmer has Graduated but when we went to winter classic we didn’t pay a spectator fee, but we had to pay a meet program. |
I would have rather paid a program fee. My DS’s grandparents who were in town the only time they visit each year had to pay to watch him swim. It’s just silly. |
York does not have results. However, they posted results for the 2-day mini meet they hosted on Sunday evening. You’re welcome. |
NP - I agree this is obnoxious but I understand the impatience. Parents and swimmers can’t rely on meet mobile at this meet. So if that’s the only time they have and it was close to a cut, they probably want to verify. |
| The times were posed on the wall. The board was accurate for almost every swim. Kids ask the timers for their times. The opportunities to find out your time were abundant. The reliance on meet mobile is absurd. I don’t have meet mobile and I know every one of my child’s times from all 10 swims at WC. |
+1 x 1,000. Also, even if results were posted to meet mobile in a timely manner, those times are unofficial. I've been to meets and have personal experience where my kid made it to finals because his official time differed than what was posted to meet mobile. |
I can be impatient about stuff too- but this is just bizarre behavior. Meet mobile does have all the results from this meet. It wasn't able to be updated consistently throughout the meet, but the results it has are accurate- not official but accurate. Sometimes meet mobile has inaccurate results b/c it will default to literally grabbing pad times before the times had been adjudicated- this was not an issue at this meet b/c no wifi connection. Also, and this is kind of in the weeds, but GMU has Gen 7 ETS. If there is a missed pad Gen 6 will default to showing the last pad touch as the official time (e.g. the 150 time on a 200) but Gen 7 doesn't do this. So its unlikely the pad time is to fast- it might be to slow. So if you want to confirm you read your kids time correctly on the scoreboard- or on the posted results- look at meet mobile. I am hoping that this is largely just one crazy person posting and not a whole bunch of people, but I seriously doubt the Marlins admin people are reading this and thinking, oh, I need to get those results to PVS. PVS lays out a specific timeframe for when meet results are supposed to be in post meet. |
