My guess is she was doing scans once or twice a year and the metastasis occurred in a period between the scans. My mom had melanoma when she was young, and my grandmother who was a nurse told us all that melanoma cells are known to spread quickly. Maybe someone with medical background can explain it better than I can.

I've known two people who had recurrent metastatic cancer in spite of being very vigilant with regular scans. Sometimes people have few symptoms.

Are there statistics that give her some hope? I know this is weird as I’m not the Bravo stuff anymore but I was thinking of her. I have my annual derm and a mole check coming up soon and I thought of rescheduling and Teddi’s news made me think better of it.

Sadly, I don't think so. Several cancers (maybe more than several) can travel to the brain and from what I understand as a BC survivor, once cancer goes to the brain, time is limited. I think I also heard that she has several tumors in the brain that are inoperable. It's also in her lungs. Terribly sad. She's young and has young kids.

President Carter had a brain and liver metastasis from melanoma successfully treated with immunotherapy.

She had debilitating headaches. Everything pointed to it. I can’t believe they missed this.

She’s been pretty vocal about the fact that even though she had horrible headaches, she did not go to her doctors. She seems to have some doctor/health care anxiety (if you look at her stories from the initial melanoma diagnosis she waited a long time and needed friends to go with her to get the moles checked). She’s mentioned on stories that she started not feeling well but wanted to push through/not complain because she is “tough”. Clearly that was a massive mistake- I’ve also recently heard her urge people not to let their anxiety get the best of them and to stay on top of their health.

Wow. I didn’t know this. That’s encouraging.

Ngl, I suspect that her cancer probably caused a major personality change and led her into an affair. Her husband is awesome for coming back to support her; many spouses wouldn't.

I disagree. Their divorce wasn’t even finalized - I think they had just filed in November? Of course he has to step up - they have 3 small children! Most good men would!

Uh, wut? Do you think a woman would "come back" and care for a man with brain cancer who was cheating on her?

Not if she had options.

Yes I do. Look at what Khloe did for Lamar when he had an overdose. I think stage IV cancer requires the betrayed spouse to quickly get over it and step up for the sake of the young kids.

They were asymptomatic?

Regardless, unless people are stage 4, CT/PET scans are not routinely done to check for recurrence unless there are symptoms.

She had melanoma already. No one thought to do an MRI to see if it had metasticized when we know melanoma is fast moving?

I watched the video. My heart just breaks for her - she does not look well. She says she finds out June 1 if all the treatment is working.

It seems off how she's laughing while talking about her kids living without her. She's either on serious medication or has not actually accepted the reality of the situation. I am not making fun of her. I've just never seen someone with such a serious diagnosis making a joke of it.

I didn’t take it that way. I see it as her making lemonade out of lemons. Saying “there’s no way they can live without me” in a joking manner is a defense mechanism. I don’t think it’s making light of her situation. I think she’s obviously scared sh$tless and I commend her for sharing her journey. She obviously uses humor to cope and that’s her right.

Agree 😔
