That’s a huge leap. Intersex are a tiny percentage. One estimate is 0.018% based on a strict definition of chromosomal anomalies.

Google says 1.7%, which while still small is nowhere as microscopic as you make it out to be. I know of one intersex person (child), I assume there are quite a few more who like the cardinal did not find out until something else happens.

Not a huge leap really, especially when you consider some may seek the vocation for acceptance and privacy.

“The vocation” requires a physical exam, and this is not new.

“Google says” trumps studies published by the NIH?

But they don’t do a DNA test … there are a lot of intersex conditions that make the external genetalia appear of a sex that is different from the chromosomal sex; or appears to be one sex when the chromosomes are intersex. If you are envisioning a person with both sex organs, that is not actually how it works.

Unless the building was uninhabitable I cannot imagine any other choice but to continue. Even in the US, remember when there was an insurrection at the US Capitol during official proceedings? They took a couple hours' break for the custodians to clean up the debris and reconvened and barely ever spoke of it again.

Many of the current Cardinals who have never participated in one watched Conclave because it is actually known to be fairly accurate in its depiction of what happens during Conclave. Including Pope Leo. The author had special access from the Vatican and the book was heavily researched.

The bomb plot is really the largest departure from the book. It was added to convey a greater sense of urgency and tension, and because it fit with the change of having Benitez ministry occur in Iraq. I loved the movie but I think there was probably a better way to achieve what they wanted there. It's the one flaw for me.

That’s actually a great analogy. They went right back the next day and continued the proceedings. or was it that night even?

NP. I thought the ending was a little cringe and not at all believable. But otherwise it was solid.

Many intersex people could pass a physical exam.

I'm actually not really sure what the intersex twist really added to the story.
