For warm and fuzzy it is Brown.

Lots of eye-rolling on our Brown tour (2021 or 2022) when all of the tour guides announced their pronouns. Also, a friend's daughter (now graduated) faced disciplinary action there for refusing to state her pronouns in a class group. So no, not warm and fuzzy.

nope. I know all the details & it was a very stressful stituation for the parents.

But good for you for not believing anonymous strangers on the internet, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Seriously. Why would an anonymous poster lie about a friend's daughter's college disciplinary experience in message thread designed to denigrate.

I said I have a kid at Brown and didn’t believe it already. Don’t think they are lying, think it’s likely a game of telephone from kid to parent to another parent and not really how it was presented. They don’t do pronouns on tours, my student has never encountered this.

You again.

You know what causes low SATs? The heartland of America's been hollowed out. Our public schools here are underfunded because of what our elites prioritize economically. SAT scores are not the measure of human worth that you think they are.

Also Michigan is missing a lot of the striving, prepping culture that DMV has. That's part of the reason for the difference. The elbows here are softer.

I paid for my MI public school kid to prep to pull this year's average up. I'm doing my part! I've been asking my kid to report back on OOS genius kids. So far he doesn't feel blown away. But he's not in Engineering.

I'd actually like to see the OOS stats by college.

2021 is very different than 2024.

Ermm. It's sort of indoctrination central for the ivy elite.

It's also a made-up number.

25% of admitted students have a 1350 or lower. So it's not crazy that some number north of 40% of enrolled students have a 1350 or lower.

And Michigan has been test optional for a few years now. Anyone who cites test scores as a tell in the TO era is just looking to throw stones.

Test optional generally increases reported test scores.

I have literally never read on here or heard IRL one negative thing about JMU. Kids love it, parents love it. Its for the plebes sure but sounds like a good time.

My nephew and a colleague's son both had serious issues at JMU. The drinking and hookup culture at JMU is so out of control. It's truly disgusting.

OMG drinking & hooking up? At a college in the USA? In the 2020s? Sources please.

U Chicago, for sending too much mail and financial issues
Northeastern, for managing yield
Harvard, for being Harvard
Columbia, activism
JHU/CMU (stressful/depressing)

And everyone loves:
Penn
Michigan

what else?

Clearly you are new as Michigan gets plenty of hate here.

Why would a male student have issues with this? Unless it's because they weren't getting in on the action.

I hate Yale. Never wanted to get even close to New Haven.

Honest question. Why did she refuse to state her pronouns? I actually think the pronoun stuff is silly; if people want to be known by others, they can make it known, but I don't think it's something that should necessarily be part of introductions since in most cases, the logical guess is correct, but if someone makes you do it, why not just say what they are - or even, "they're what you'd guess"? The pronoun still will actually run its course pretty quickly. I know it feels like a long time, but within 10 years we don't be doing it. People will just use what they want and others will catch on.

State College people LOVE their time there. I did not go but think it’s a good solid school for certain topics - pretty well respected in the field I work in. If my DCs wanted a big school I would encourage them to look at it.
