Universally beloved schools

Anonymous
Relatively new to this forum but its very clear that there are some schools that get piled on hatred:
U Chicago, for sending too much mail and financial issues
Northeastern, for managing yield
Harvard, for being Harvard
Columbia, activism
JHU/CMU (stressful/depressing)

And everyone loves:
Penn
Michigan

what else?

What's bad about Penn? Besides Wharton, everyone hates Wharton kids.

LOL. Penn has a reputation as a miserable place that never accepts anyone from our HS. Not loved.

Michigan is in a location with awful winter weather, is far too large and rah-rah and almost cult-like from what my DC and their friends could sense-- none of DC's (high achieving) peers had any interest in applying. Not universally loved.

No school is universally loved!

It’s full of tristate, Florida gunners and strivers

Penn and Michigan are far from universally loved. "Penn face" is real and plenty of people hate huge schools/football culture/cold weather/the state of Michigan itself.

No school is universally loved. Not even Hogwarts.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Same experience with my kid's high-achieving friends.

+1. My kids have a strong dislike for Penn. They think it has a toxic culture with cutthroat kids.

Wharton is the gem in their crown, and nobody likes those students. Their nursing program is really tops, and everyone thinks, why .. you went to Penn .. for nursing? The Arts and Sciences is Penn - "oh, but not Wharton?" The campus isn't pretty, the location is .. okay.

Everyone we know at Penn hates it.

Even graduates.

Agree with Brown and MIT.

I feel like no one ever mentions Rice. Because Texas.
