How do you figure? |
| Makes sense, where a former president who fudged data and a current dean should be working. They were just getting prepared for their time at TB. |
| When I went to Stanford for graduate school in the mid 90s I thought it looked like Melrose Place. To my 20-something self that was a big plus! |
Lol, that show was so good. |
In Palo Alto? |
| Our education system is a corrupt joke |
| OP, Where should one go if they prefer McDonalds? How about Chick-fil-A? |
| OP, you suck. Maybe read about the history of California and appreciate that our country is vast and filled with an amazing mix of heritages, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. You just sound ignorant, not witty. |
Op people are riffing on you but this actually is ugly and I love Spanish style architecture. This really looks like Mexican restaurant anchor strip mall |
|
I agree that there are a few nice buildings at Stanford and then a whole lot of nothing special. The few nice buildings are what you see in pictures.
I still wouldn't turn it down |
If it’s so great why are you defensive about it looking like a Taco Bell? |
I'll echo what a PP just said: "Maybe read about the history of California and appreciate that our country is vast and filled with an amazing mix of heritages, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. You just sound ignorant, not witty." |
That's exactly what Stanford looks like--a chain Mexican restaurant in a strip mall. |
| Google is free. The Stanford Quad was built between 1887 and 1905. |

I get what I think is the gist behind your post, OP. You feel this way about Stanford, I felt this way about Dartmouth. You walk in expecting to fall in love and you don’t and it shocks you.
I still remembering touring Dartmouth which I thought was my Dream School. Turns out I hated the red brick buildings and the campus sort of made me feel quasi-claustrophobic (maybe wrong word choice - but in the middle of nowhere with a slightly panicked feeling about it). I still remember feeling so surprised that “this” was the Dartmouth I had built up in my mind. |
