And after Roe, states like New York relaxed their restrictions on late abortion. |
That is a complete lie. There are only 2 doctors in america that actually perform 3rd tri abortions and they are 25-35k before travel costs. NO ONE is waking up one morning and chosing this. They are the only option for women who are in dire MEDICAL need. |

This article discusses 3 women who had abortions. The first woman had hers at 35 weeks - she had to got to Colorado. Read it to understand why this happens.

I don’t think I’d chose abortion in that scenario but I cannot really say I think it should be outlawed. |
There is going to be a special place in hell for right wingers (religious or not) who deny pregnant women health care. If MAGAs haven't figured out they are being lied to to harvest their votes by this point, there is really no hope for them. |
Yes and that’s what makes forcing women to carry doomed pregnancies, sometimes at intense personal risk, is inherently wrong. Some states and hospitals insist on resuscitating neonates no matter what the health prognosis is; I’m not sure I could bring a child into the world for that. |
Stop lying. What I wrote is factually and demonstrably correct. CBS News: New York state has enacted strong new legal protections for abortion rights. The new law, signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday, safeguards rights laid out in Roe v. Wade and other court rulings, including a provision permitting late-term abortions when a woman's health is endangered, The Associated Press reports. The state's previous law, which had been on the books for nearly 50 years, only permitted abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy if a woman's life was at risk. |
| Mental health and anguish is now covered which it was NOT pre Roe. |
So no examples of patients where this wasn’t medically necessary? |
|
KFF:
While very limited contemporary data exists on this issue, a study from 1992 estimated 0.02% of all abortions occurred after 26 weeks gestation (320 to 600 cases per year). https://www.kff.org/womens-health-policy/issue-brief/abortions-later-in-pregnancy-in-a-post-dobbs-era/ |
Do you think a mother’s mental health makes an abortion medically necessary? |
There’s literally examples in this article of women who weren’t in dire medical need who got third trimester abortions. One didn’t find out until her third trimester that she was pregnant. Another says she would have gotten one earlier, but it wasn’t until the third trimester that she raised the funds. Why are you suggesting this doesn’t happen when it’s in published medical literature? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9321603/ |
DP as someone who knows someone who committed suicide because of pregnancy leaving behind aside children I can say confidentially that mental health issues can absolutely be a medical crisis. |
The fact that one woman had to raise funds to get an abortion shows how policies and our sick health care push women to get later abortions than they normally would. |
Dp- That study has no varification in it. Seriously can someone double check, because it’s just ladies that called up and told a story. There is was no checking the veracity of their stories. It’s worthless. |
