Exactly. And if we are just trying to add "eyeballs" to the team, why not suggest every woman athlete dress in skimpy uniforms? The point of the Olympics is/should be about athletic achievement, not marketing. |

Clark is by far the best player on the worst team in the league. Her stats are great when you know that opposing teams don’t have to defend anyone else.
Yes it was really really really stupid not to put her on the Olympic team. Everyone involved in that decision should be fired asap. They don’t give a crap about the wnba or women’s basketball. |
Are you familiar with women's beach volleyball? I feel like some of you never watch other sports of the Olympics for that matter. |
DP. They don't but it's no reason for it not to be an aspiration. I think it's great when a team makes a choice that's clearly about the game and not about appeasing vocal fans. I felt the same way about Erin Matson getting left off the field hockey team. |
|
Clark isn’t popular for being hot, it’s because she’s the best player to come along in a while. |
It's subjective and political, across many sports. Pretending it's not is ridiculous. |
I feel like you don’t understand the difference between a sport that started on/is played beaches and every other woman athlete at the games. Leaving aside that the question isn’t what women choose to wear but whether they should be forced to show a lot of skin if that will attract more male viewers— because that is what you are suggesting. |
That is a totally different situation. The women's basketball team can add Clark and win regardless of whether she is one of the top 12 American players. The same might not hold true for the gymnastics team. |
I'm not making any suggestion just pointing out how stupid and erroneous your statements are. You're clueless yet trying to pass yourself as an authority figure while getting nothing right. |
See also track and field, gymnasts, swimmers, do you actually watch any sport other than basketball? If you had a clue you would be aware that women athletes are complaining about the uniforms. I'd ask you if you could hazard a guess as to why that might be but it's pretty clear you would be stumped. |
That's the wrong track. People are leaving out the elephant in the room - race. There is no chance that the leading scorer in NCAA history would be left off the Olympic team if she were black. That's the issue. The powers that be in women's basketball are having a fit bc some white girl from the cornfields is good at basketball. And she has a huge contract with a shoe company. And she's bringing in a gazillion viewers to what has long been a viewerless sport. Idiots. Their pathetic racism is going to cost them millions. And I'm pretty sure Caitlin Clark is good enough to play against Angola, which I guess we'll never see now. |
Wait— you think she is actually good enough to make the team and got left off because she is white? That is crazy talk. If you want to argue she isn’t good enough to make the team but we should let her because a bunch of white people will be more invested in the team and maybe will eventually watch more WNBA games that is at least an argument. But arguing it’s all a conspiracy is just racist nonsense. I mean Kelsey Plum was the then- NCAA career scoring leader, number 1 overall pick in the draft in 2017 and she didn’t make the team for 2020 Olympics. |
Ok Gladys. Sit down now. |

The quality of play in the WNBA, in general, is just bad. Bad and boring. If you can't understand that you're blind.
CC can actually play and brings an excitement to the game like no one else. Especially they 35+ year old biddies who don't want her at the olympics. Screw em. CC does not need the olympic team. |
